I saw today I had a visit to my site that was referred by a site I had never heard of. I clicked the link and it sent me to an affiliate link.
I realized this could be a viable way to get affiliate sales as the web master might click an amazon affiliate link then buy something a few weeks later from amazon. Has anyone ever used a spider to get affiliate sales? I might use it but I am not sure how I would get a web crawler bot that makes it look like my affiliate link referred the visit.

Sorry about poor grammar or spelling, I wrote this very quickly and proof read it

This referral spam is not an effective monetization strategy in my opinion. As has been mentioned - very few people even regularly review the logs and would see the link - and even fewer people would click it. But it's easy enough to try, so it could be worth your time to develop a testing scenario and find out for yourself if any money can be made this way.
