Do you know of any affiliate programs that allow you to use CL as a means of marketing their services?

I have figured out how to get post to stick on CL but now I have no offers to promote.

As this is a public forum please PM me and I will share with you some of my tricks.

I am not trying to collect emails or anything. I just dont CL to see this board and therefore make any resources useless.

Yes but how do we promote them on craigslist without the affiliate program finding out?

Think of what you want to do as money laundering - dirty clicks as the money. The goal is to clean up the clicks to make them appear to be gotten threw upstanding means and not bruit force.

The question then is how to do this.

If you use history as an example we see that mobs used legit stores as a front for sending their dirty money threw - a little dirty with a little clean and you pad your books then the IRS says OK - your good. --something link that...

So with clicks this is the same way. I suggest setting up wordpress blog or like site around the ruff idea of what your promoting on CL.

So if its home loans, make a bog about home loans and put legit adds on that page. (This will take you about 20 minuets at the most to set up). Now - depending on how you want to market your Affiliate link - you can give them a direct link to your site and have them naturally click on the adds. or for a bit more black hat, on your host put one file that says loans.html for example - advertise the link as (www.yoursite.loans.html) on CL. Here is the trick. In the loans.html page just use one line of code.

< xxx http-equiv="refresh" content="1;URL=your affilate link here" > (just replace the xxx at the start with "meta" not in quotes.)

what this does is redirects your visitor (most times without them knowing) to your affiliate page you are advertising for. They get their and they may sign up and you get your money. Presto~with out them clicking your link even (well besides on craigslist).

This method also protects you in 2 ways. First if you Affiliate you are advertising for happens to see your link - they see a link to your site and not theirs (when in fact it is a link to their site). The second way, if you run this add for a few days then change the redirect to on your one file (loan.html) to your home page and not your affiliates any more. This protect you if your link did get discovered and they were going to look into your bad link- the link would have been changed and point to your operations front.. that is your legit biz. Also this cleans the link as when your Advertiser (customer) checks to see where your back links are comming from they see it was your site.

Clean links with a bit of danger.

Not sure if this answered your question or not.. but hope it did.. Cheers~!

I think a lot of us are taking this too lightly. I am hearing alot of horror stories about how affiliate marketers are losing there money after being reported back to the company

Look, you want to make big money in this world, you have to roll the dice people.

You're going to lose a few accounts along the way but that's the game, make more than you lose.

I've lost probably 30 commission junction accounts over the years and had a new one a day later.

Speaking just on CL, the only people you have to worry about are other affiliate marketers being jealous losers and reporting you to the network so they can get you banned. They are the only ones who know the game well enough to do that to you.

Even still, with thousands of ads posted every minute on CL, it's rare that you get reported to the merchant, and if you do, you should have made plenty of money before you ended up getting banned.

    Rinse, and repeat.

    I like your style.

My point in asking is to try and avoid mistakes that might be obvious to those that have been in the CL game for a while. I do thank you for your advice, and I am moving forward, like you said BIG MONEY baby.

While this is very much a valid technique, a meta refresh is not going to pass a referer header to the affiliate page - thus perhaps raising questions as to your traffic sources (esp if 100% of your traffic has no referer)

In another thread I posted this same link, but its also relevant here
(and b4 anyone asks, no this is not my site)

    Code:
    http://www.slightlyshadyseo.com/index.php/controlling-your-referer-and-hiding-your-traffic-sources/

As SSSEO briefly gets into, to stay under the radar you should setup a situation where only the first call (per IP) to the cloaked URL results in the traffic getting sent to the affiliate program - However, I would even go as far as even examining the real referer header for even more stealthiness (if its not coming from the site/page you are wanting to cloak, don't cloak!)

    YMMV

Using PHP (although, i prefer perl) you would examine the source IP address, looking for a match in a database - if no match, add the ip to your database and send directly to affiliate program link.

If there is a match (meaning this IP has hit your page once before), send to the white hat content site, which is promoting the affiliate site/product/service with regular text links to the affiliate program.

For the referer, you pretty much do the same...examine the referer header, do a db query and determine if you are going to send to affiliate site or display your white hat content site.

Now, be advised that with the referer comes a bit of management/logistics of knowing the exact URL your link is on and putting that URL in your DB.

It's a gamble like everyone said above. You can cover your ass the best possible ways. Sometimes you get paid and other times you get shut down. I just lost 8 grand on a ringtone campaign.

Oh well. That's the fun of all this shit!

This may be your solution, bare with me if I misuse some terms here... I'm learning.

Why don't you create and image ad where they have to manually type in your website (landing page). Instead of using meta refresh script, buy some cheap short domain, set domain forwarding to the merchant with your aff ID in it.

If they type it in, it wouldn't show a referrer from CL... if I'm off the mark, let me know. I've been doing that for a year now and I haven't gotten banned from CJ or any other affiliate (knock on wood), the personals on CL...hehee, that's another story altogether!
