Hi I'm not sure which section this question belongs in... but I just wanted to know if CJ.COM can find out where your traffic comes from. I want to use Craiglist and Myspace as a source of traffic to my landing page.

From my landing page I will have affiliate links leading to the product or service that I am promoting. What I will not be doing is posting affiliate links on mypspace or craigslist Directly. Just sending people to my own landing page. What I would like to know is will the cj quality team be able to see where I am getting my traffic from?

Thanks so much

Just to make it clear, though, if someone (either at CJ, or one of their customers) stumbles across your CL ad (or gets a complaint), they can follow the link, and ultimately, referral blank or no, they can get your affiliate id.

Promoting your site via CL will probably not get you in hot water, but promoting an affiliate product directly (even if the pass through is indirect) might get some complaints.

Yes thats the question I cant seem to find an answer too. Can you get into trouble promoting your SITES on craigslist or myspace. The affiliate links will be placed on my page.

Im still not clear on this. and one more question. How can an Affiliate manager see where your traffic is coming from? Do they have access to our logs? Thanks

You should be able to promote your site through any legal means, and not get into trouble. Once you get people to your site, as long as they proceed to click through on an ad on their own, you should be fine.

What you have to do is put yourself in the position of CJ and their client, and ask yourself if your "flow" is going to upset them in any way. Mostly, this will be as simple as whether or not your ads will piss off any of the people who see them.

Keep in mind, though, that CL is full of haters and flaggers, and it would not surprise me one bit of one of them would try to complain to CJ about you, just to drive you away from CL forever. I'd make sure to run a very reputable campaign on CL (at least one, if you get my drift) and if you get contacted by CJ, just be prepared to tell them that you promote your site, not any affiliate offers, on CL, and entirely in accordance with their TOS, and you will be all right.

Thanks so much this is exactly the information I have been searching for.

This opens alot of doors for me I believe.. Thanks again for your help
