So I'm looking for some advice...

I've been with this affiliate company for over a year now and have had high success with them. Recently, they put a hold on my account and said one of my recent promotions (which I mainly promoted with Google Adwords) had really crappy leads and I am being investigated for fraud.
This is fine as I noticed something suspicious was up with my Google Adwords account and had let them know! I personally think a competitor saw my ad on Google (as I was advertising in very high competitive keywords) and decided to fuck me over with clicks and leads and such. Anyway, Google is currently investigating that and will hopefully give me my money back or credit.

So to make a long story short, the affiliate company wanted screenshots of my account which I gave. But Now they want ACCESS to my Adwords account.

I told them I would think about that.

Honestly, I have nothing to hide but part of me feels as though this is an invasion of my privacy and was an unreasonable request. I am currently promoting other companies there and my past stuff is on there, etc....

Part of me wants to just give them access to prove my innocence. The other part of me wants to stand up and say no as its a invasion of my privacy.

If you were in this situation, what would you do?

A decent amount of my promotion money (last months check and part of this months) is being held (Im not referring to the promotion thats under question right now, I also did other promotions for them).

Like I said before, I've been with them awhile now. Never gave them a reason to doubt any of my other promotions. All my work with them have been honest and now all this happens and they dont even seem like they care.

What do I do from here?

I know, such a huge mess to deal with.

That is absolutely absurd, any way you slice it. Would you mind sharing the name of the this affiliate network so I, and others, can steer clear?

I would say that screen shots are ok but giving them access to your account is out of the question. Your personal account is none of their business.

That's none of their business. DO NOT give access. They will steal your campaigns. It has happened to me before.

I would not give them access. I would tell them that nowhere in their terms did it say that had that right. I'm sure they'll counter that it's not but it is in there that they can terminate your account. Then, I would counter with a lawsuit, in which you could prove that your promotion methods were legit.

    Which network did this?

Tell them you would like access to their account, and more importantly, their banking info. Also, read their TOS, I'm about 99.9% sure it states nothing about naming your traffic sources nor having to give access to any personal accounts.

Also, tell them you will consider allowing them access (remotely) once you contact your attorney and have a NDA drafted and signed by them.

    Thanks for your advice guys.
I thought the same thing and was shocked when I was asked.
I just wanted to make sure I wasnt being the unreasonable one by not wanting to give them my account info but I now see I was right and you all you agree with me.

I'm going to give this company a few more days to sort this all out with me and I'll let you all know what happens and who is doing this!

    Thanks again :)

Forget that. Tell them you're taking your traffic to their competitor. Asking for access to your adwords account is absurd..

Under no circumstances should you EVER show your hand like that. They are not allowed to ask for it, either. Google CLEARLY outlined that ONLY you should be logging into that account. Letting someone else do it is a violation of their TOS and you will get kicked. Of course this complicates with affiliates.

Your being danced about. While your leads may have been crap that is not justification for fraud as you have no control over who they put these ads on, right? All you do is say how much you'll pay for a keyword.

I think your spot on with a comp screwing you. Its like link spamming your competition to get them google banned. PRStorm a site for a week and use the other crap link spam tools and your competition wille asily be shut down, not a secret.

This sounds like CJ or Clickbank. I know CJ is DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY.

If your ever approached by someone like that again kindly remind them that your own personal accounts are your own personal accounts.

Also, did you check to see if someone was spoofing the affiliate? Its far fetched but this sounds like a phisher. Someone in house trying to screw you and get you kicked out. I'm pretty sure they are just trying to legally box you, don't let them. If it is CJ I doubt any lawyer would have a problem taking on that case at a no win cost. Have them respond because if you don't they will keep screwing you over.

These buggers are getting nasty. Also, check your local legislation! Your state has a constitution and whatnot of its own and in FL Vegas anf Zona they have rules that don't let these guys get away with it. In essence, you are a contracted entity. To be a licensed contractor, or to offer contracts to other people, you've got rules to follow. Does anyone remember when the bills passed that said clicking I Agree is a digital signature and legaly binding? Same deal man. They entered into a contract with you.

Its a bit more difficult and exspensive but if youw anted to you could register a cmpany, LLC or whatever, get licensed as a contracotr in your state and these suckers wont know what hit them because in the US, just because its a computer screen does NOT mean your not protected. SPAM ACT is a good example of this.

I'm going thru this with EPN. I feel your woes man. They wanted access to all kinds of information and I kindly reminded them that they don't have the right and their TOS did not at any point state that we would need to provide anything.

We need to find a way to come together on this. I'm not saying we need a class action group, but we should be more organized as brothers in a war against theft of commission not by other soldiers but by the generals of the enemy.

Keep us posted on what is happening here though because I know a lot of us will be in the same boat very soon.

that's absurd. I understand they want to know what type of traffic you were sending, but they cannot ask for more than a screen shot. Access to your account is a BIIIG nono.

So I'm curious as to what you ended up telling them and what their response was.. Any updates?
