Hi guys, hope you're doing fine.

I'm having a huge problem with a search network campaign. Someone (probably one of my competitors) is causing me an invalid interaction rate of 99,99% on a daily basis. I know, adwords won't charge me for those clicks, but this is causing me to have my campaign offline for the whole day (it runs only a couple of hours and then bum! a huge amount of clicks are registered, consuming all my budget).

I've tried a couple of things like, excluding IPs and creating the same campaign segmented by hours of the day, but this is still happening to me because the bot can change its IP really easy.

What do you guys think I can do to put an end to this behavior?

    Thanks!

Are you sure you are reading this right and interpreting some number correctly? You are saying that only one of 10,000 clicks is invalid. Highly unlikely.

Call Google and they can look into this.

Completely agree with LucidMarketing, call Google I'm sure they will help you as they too are losing (well not making) money because of this. There is not much you can do on your end.

Terrible advice. The first thing Google will do is look at the ads and website for any violations.

Yep, I'm pretty sure I'm looking the right repot. These are my stats for yesterday:

    adw.jpg

In a couple of days, Adwords will review my activity and the report will look more or less like this one (sorry for the inaccurate of this report, I only have 98.76% of invalid interaction rate :p)

I called Google a couple of times, and they say that they can't do anything, and they keep saying that the only thing I can do is exclude IPs.

Well, any help with this issue would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks guys!
    Best!

Holy cow! Never seen anything even approaching what you have. At least they refunded you which is how the system works and you are proof that it does. They can't do much about preventing others from clicking your ads but it does detect strange activities and will reimburse you in a few days, albeit disconcerting and worrisome to see such stats for a few days.

First thing to do is find out if these are all coming from one IP or a certain group of IPs. You need to consult Analytics for that. If you don't have it installed, use your site's log files. Most hosting services provide the raw files or an Analytics equivalent to make this easier.

Once you figure out what may be the culprit IP, you need to add it as an exclusion in Adwords to prevent your ads to show to that IP. That's a campaign advanced setting. Only problem is that if you are targeting locally, you may prevent showing your ads to those genuinely searching for you.

You're such an extreme case, I have to ask what you are advertising and where. The ARS currency suggests you are in Argentina.
