i am 100% sure that i am the only advertiser for the kw, anyways my ad sometimes goes from the top of the search listings to the bottom of the search listings. shouldnt it always be at the top if im the only advertiser?

or is there something else that controls if it gets shown at top or bottom? (besides competition since in my case there is none)

It all depends upon the google search algorithm and how it shows the ad. Sometimes google show on the top, or right or bottom.

It does not depend upon competition, so even you have no competition, it does not matter.

Same here. And it depends on keyword quality. My ads are shown in bottom of search results when are shown for competitors branded keywords. Eg. I advertise my client pizzeria for other pizzerias name. :)
    And they don`t advertise...

There's really no such thing as being the only advertiser.

But even if were true, Google controls when and where ads show. There's many factors and the only ones you control are your quality and bid.

You need a QS of 7 or more to even show with the SERPs instead of on the right side. Since you do, I assume your QS is adequate.

@Lucid that`s not the case. You do show up within the first 3 spots with even lower QS but not as frequently as you would like to.
I`m not talking about exact match keywords here because that`s a different thing.

It depends on Google's algorithm - sometimes they will push the sole advertiser at the time to the bottom and sometimes leave it at the top.
