Interested in peoples opinions on which niches are good to target web design services too?
was thinking local business as always beneficial to meet face to face. But what kind of business do you think? For example ; Restaurants? ?? Builders??

i was also logically thinking hand picking companies whose websites look crap?

Thanks for posting this, I can't offer any advice (getting clients is hard for me too), but hopefully someone else will chime in.

People don't like being told their site looks crap. It undermines them as a business owner.
You're better of focusing on usability and how your services can improve their conversion rate.

Hey mate, I would target professional services. These are businesses that have high profit margins and benefit most from a website. A builder would be hesitant to have a website because most of their clients will come from the yellow pages, local news papers etc... accountants, dentists, lawyers ect... usually have money to spend on a website because they know people will be looking at it and judging their business.

What era did you drop out of?
No one uses those things anymore, builders are some of my best clients.
They want a platform to display their work.

I have builders in my family (UK) and most of their business comes from word of mouth and local adverts rather than online. I think most people would rather get an extension done on their house through somebody they know through a friend. That being said a website can still be very appealing and they had one built anyway, not that it brings in much business.
