I'm a self-published author, with a fiction novel published on amazon. I'm writing a second novel and working on a self-help non-fiction ebook. I was thinking to make a wordpress blog specifically for my ebooks. Any ideas if this is a good marketing idea? Should I create a blog just for the self help book, or for me as an author with links to all of my books, and how would I go about maximizing search results, traffic, etc? I thought non-fiction might be more marketable through a blog that fiction, but don't know for sure. Any advice is great...thanks guys.

One blog per book if you want to promote the books. One blog for all your books if you want to promote yourself ;)

Ok, thanks for that feedback. But if I had one blog per book - what would I keep blogging about? I wouldn't want to give away too much of the story, so I am at a loss as what to write on the blog.

Many authors just make blogs about their books. Look at any popular writer. They promote books and blog about their writing life. However they do have a huge following. If you have a huge following- sure go that way. Combine that with a Twitter/FB and you are golden.

For your Non-fiction books. Are they all in the same/related niche? Then I would, without a doubt, start a authority site on the content, setup an emailing list and go the whole distance. Of course, you will have to be the final judge on how much content to give away for free as you do want to sell the book. Rank your site, give the visitor a decent amount of content and then sell your ebooks.

You could go the other way around? What's your book about? Create a blog on a related topic. For example, if the book is about WWII - start a WWII themed blog and start working on your content. You can then offer them your ebook.

This is how most of the content marketing companies work. Just look at Hubspot for example. They create useful content marketing content and then offer people their ebooks via the blog, emails and social media. And people buy them, because they're interested in content marketing and want to buy content marketing ebooks.

Good ideas. My non-fiction book is a self-help, personal growth book. So I could start a blog about this topic and then introduce the ebook when it is ready to publish on Amazon. What do you think is the best way to do SEO for a new wordpress blog? Just keywords in the posts - long blog posts with photos, videos, and good content? Post once a week or so? Thanks
