I have managed to register the domainname of a multinational company. This company is the biggest one on their market and one find their products all over the world and in pretty much every houshold in the world.

They have been too focused on their international domain and had totaly forgot about their neational domain in their mother country which is Sweden.

I registered the domain and I have now got a letter from their lawyer telling me pretty much that either I give it up and hand it over to them or I will be sued. I am not so worried of beeing sued since they have to do that in Sweden since it's registered there, paid there and the company have their lawyers there... It won't be any problem for me to stay away (I don't live in Sweden nowadays) if they manage to take it to court. And in worse case they don't won't be able to fine me for that much money in Sweden anyway. I actually think that they can't even go to court since this things should be solved by nic.se who is handeling the country domain .se and who have rules for how this should be handeled. And there is also a big chance that I get to keep the domain even if it's a company name if I just can show that I have a reasonable use for it. Like if registering Ford.se I can get to keep that name if I'm selling Ford relateing products or have Ford related information, which also must make it worth a lot more to just buy me out and not takt the risk to not fight for it.

Their lawyer haven't offered me any money. They just think that they can get the domain for free by trheatening me.

I want some hint of what to do and how to go further to cash out on this domain.

Should I contact their lawyer telling them that they can buy it back from me if they want that domain name? I can always thretend to put some heavy porn on that site and it will at least take some weeks before they manage to get the domain back if trying to fight for it.

If not.. Any other suggestions what to do instead?

Anyone have any clue of what one can set as price for the domain?
Note.. This domain is not misspelled or any thing. It's theircompanyname.se exactly as spelled in their .com domain.

The reason why I'm asking for advice is that I never been in any similar situation before but I think I can smell some money... ;)

I won't reveale what the domain name is since I did register it with my real name to be shown if checkin a who-is on that domain (just in case they wanted to contact me to buy it back) and I don't want to flag it here.

I would not make any threats but you need to be very cool and send them a counter offer with your price simply.

I live in Sweden, and I honestly don't think they can do much.

So offer them a price and see what they say.
Are you utilizing the page right now?
If you are and it is related to what they offer, they should see the value and just buy it back.

Be very cool about it, no anger or threats are good really, just handle it professionally.
And if they say anything, just say that you paid for the domain and it is making you money, so if they want it they need to pay for it.

    Don't forget.
They are a corporation and the company they hired to send you letter is also a business.

So there is no emotions involved.
So threats won't do in my opinion.

I am not sure that an counter offer will do. Business it is for sure. I think the rules say that one can't register a domain with a brand or company name belonging to someone else with the purpose to sell it back. I think that I just will wait some time and see what happends. Maybe I should just put out some content on that domain, which they for sure won't like to be connected with?

I have some thinkings to do I guess. I don't wanna loose this oppertunity...

i think you need to have a fake business name-- so you can say this website is for the use of my business that sells-- blah blah blah-- other than that-- they will take the domain by force== hopefully you can get your money back for cost of domain-- also put up a message like the domain and business is being sold on the website with contact info to a prepaid phone!
