I'm looking for the best solution for the current Google algorithm. Currently I have "noindexed" all of my tag and category pages. I'm trying to prevent pages from being indexed that don't provide much value. If this really the best possible solution? Should I allow index on one and noindex the other.

I'm really looking for opinions and first hand experiences. I know I could try each out but I'm looking for real advice.

The site I'm trying to tweak is a shopping cart site. If that makes a difference.

I have removed the noindex from my tags. They seem to describe my services better and I have left my categories as noindex. I'll see how that works. I'll report what I find.

Why not use the new rel="next" and rel="prev" tags?

You can use Yoast's SEO plugin to do this by using the indexation rules :) This is the best way to deal with hierarchy of pages.

This tag looks like it's made more for paginated archives. I'm just trying to get my Wordpress cart indexed a little better. Seems like most of my pages are just ignored.
