I have a number of virtual assistants to do daily tasks for me. A good number of them perform well, but there are a couple that stick out which I have a feeling are not attending to daily task or pretending to do so. I.e. they log on, tells me they are on the job, and at the end of the day tell me they finished and gives me a report. But you see, the report can be anything the worker decides to put in there. And I have a feeling one or two of them are using the work time to browse forums and do other things (which I'm paying hard earned money for).

Hence, I'd like to ask those that are already outsourcing, what programs do you use to monitor your worker's work?
For example, it would be awesome to have a program (if its not already out) that takes screenshots of the worker every 10 - 15 minutes, and also log the websites they have visited.

Any input is appreciated.

Odesk does exactly that. Screenshots every 10 minutes. I hired a contractor on there, and every screenshot, he was busting his ass at work.

So, yeah you pay like .18 per dollar but it's well worth it.

I've never used a VA before, but if I did I would use software similar to what oDesk uses for team monitoring. I'm sure if you wanted to, you could use this software for your own projects outside of oDesk. It has a good number of features to help monitor workers, such as keyboard & mouse activity, random screen shots every X-Y minutes, and a few other things. Of course they do have some control over the screen shots you see if they remove them within a period of time, but obviously you'd be able to see if they were doing this.

ok guys... anything cheaper than oDesk?

Hi,
I think you can assign specific tasks that will be completed and stated clearly in report. I mean the tasks you assign must be clear and related to real results. So they cannot cheat you in report for what they haven't done.

Have him install Teamviewer and ask for client id and pass. This way, you can remotely monitor him anytime....

Yes, the task assigned is VERY specific. But still, if they have done the task for a few months, whats to stop them pulling out some old reports and just modify, copy & paste, etc. and it would be impossible for me to cross reference against all previous reports because that would be time consuming and counter-productive.

The Odesk Monitoring, is it a program. Can I get it as a standalone, or must I hire someone through Odesk to be able use it?

It is stand alone software. Try getting your workers to download it and sign on. You will need an oDesk account, as will they, but I'm fairly certain you'll be able to use it without creating projects on oDesk.

The oDesk software is free. :)

If you don't want to use oDesk, just grab logmein and then randomly sign on throughout the day to the suspects you have.

you do have some keyloggers which can even take a screen shots for customized time and also sends those screenshots to your email. I am sure this is the best idea. but you gotta buy those keyloggers. dont try free ones!!

TimeDoctor does Odesk as a standalone program. I remember reading about it on some forum for outsourcing tasks.

Check out worksnaps, looks just like to Odesk system but it is a per worker subscription... I use it.

I really think their are many software's available to record mouse activity and screen view. Also you could think about going with something like Odesk. Anyway I would want to know about my VA's to if I hired them. RedClover

The timeviewer software is the ultimate solution for you.
You can monitor what is going on at your remote work place.
This is really good, simple and also very much user friendly also.
