So I plan to take a game release thats coming in a few months and make a demo offer which will be fake and do content locking.

I aim to make just a 30 sec or so vid one of those still vids just with some writing on or something, does this sound ok? then download link at the bottom.

I am a real noob to video editing, what should i do and what programs you advise i use?

I guess it doesnt have to even be a video right but just a still pic maybe some music to excite them and some captions as the time rolls thru.

So how would i do that? i have windows movie editor or whatever wil that do?

    Advise plz.

What I would recommend is putting yourself in the shoes of the audience. What would you need to see in front of you to actively encourage you to click through?

Don't do a crappy little slide show - no one wants to watch those and the engagement drop off will be very high especially if your taking the gaming demographic.

How about use a bit of stock footage from the game that hooks people within 5 seconds, then fade the volume down and talk over the top of the gameplay with some on screen cues about the offer?

You might describe a lil bit about what type of offer you're promoting to your audience. Is it beta codes or what?
You can cut the game trailer for few seconds and watermark it with your download's link or just some texts like "Click the link in the description to download bla bla bla.."

You can use Camtasia or Windows Movie Maker to create your video.

I can only speak for myself on what I would want to watch, but I can definitely say that a 30 second still video would not hold my attention at all. Gaming is such a visual medium, I'd agree that you really need to have some gameplay footage on there if you want to hold anyone's attention for more than a few seconds. The footage can end up fading out to black and a download link. Oh, and you should definitely have some music over it too. Something fast and memorable.

Photo slideshows don't work for me honestly. Windows Movie Maker should be the easiest video program to use. Send me a link when it's up. I would like to see 30 seconds of your game on Youtube personally.

Look up "Abobo's Big Adventure" on YT. Now that's a game trailer.

    Good luck.
