1 and half year ago this website helped me start my B&M business. We have 3 websites now and do work for clients nationwide.

sadly the market is on a decline due to a rise in competition doing cheap sub-standard work. In order to keep my level of income where it is and/or increase it somewhat I'm dabbling into some pure IM stuff.

    anyways...
I've read alot and tested many methods with our current websites. So hopefully I can return the help I received.

I've been researching niches that I have interest in and have knowledge of.I just dont know if I can compete with this? as a semi-noob?

I plan on using all the tools available to me.
Wife is a great article writer. and I have ALOT of tools to use.

Look at link #5, and link #6, you can easily beat them with a couple of blasts and high PR link.

Without actually seeing the sites I can't give you a solid answer but I agree with snickersbar above it looks like it shouldn't be too difficult.

I don't always trust market samurai without seeing all the on page SEO and the domain authority first. If those are pages within a site and you plan on niche targeting just the keywords then yeah go for it.

I find I can compete against some of the bigger sites if my whole site is only focused in on one keyword. I can get a 4 page article site in the top 10 without too much problem if they aren't all super authority sites.

You're only seeing part of the story. Never rely on one tool to confirm a keyword is easy to compete for. In addition, if you have all this experience, keep in mind many people have had their sites move up the ranks beyond a TON of competition. If you do good work and get linked, etc., your site will do fine.

It looks like there are no real big authority sites in the top 10 as the highest domain age rank given is 2 (excluding you tube videos). That means that your competition is on the same boat as you and are probably ahead in terms of backlinks.

This is definitely beatable although there are so many other things to look at.

    1. Do a PR analysis of the competition through market samurai - This will help you find out about their link quality and how well they have been backlinking to their site. You will then need to beat them.

    2. Also do an anchor text analysis to see how aggressive the competition has been with anchor text usage.

    3. Visit each of the site and see how much content they have. If some sites have heavy backlinks with new content being generated everyday, they might be given preference by Google. You will need to match that in some way.

In other words, it all comes down to basic SEO and it would be very difficult to give advice with the information that you have given. But just get rolling and see how well your site jumps around in the SERP's and scale up your efforts accordingly.

    Yes you can.

    1. Start with on page SEO. (This helps a lot).
    2. Off page SEO like backlinks helps the most.

The truth of the matter is you can rank for anything, but it will take time and don't rush in all at once and blast 10K links in a day or Google will SB you. But I've ranked alongside corporate brand names with a 3-6 month strategy of adding links on a regular basis.

So decide how fast you want to see results or else go where there is less competition.

    Thanks for the replys guys...

i had checked in market samurai and seems like the #1 pos has very few anchor text backlinks.
the site that is currently at the position one is pretty large.

Not to worried about it though... I dont mind taking a few months on this project. I'll just throw it in the mix with a few others I'm researching right now.

I guess I'll need to find a few more niches that can get me earning a little $ sooner. (i dont care how much, just something)

I'll be using my precious seonuke, sb and a few other tools

Regarding the very few backlinks with the anchor text, this could be actually just very natural backlinking, i mean, real backlinking. You should check those backlinks to know your competition, whether they doing backlinks or it's in fact other people linking to them because their content is good (in this case you have to work harder)

It's not about the quantity of backlinks, but about the quality of those. If they are natural, you will have to work harder to get there
