Advertising in India

Strict regulatory compliance (AYUSH/FSSAI claims), instructional advertorial funnels, brand pages + retargeting, and not attempting to get around ad moderation are the key to long-term survival for Indian pharmaceutical and functional food companies.

Just a quick tip - once get new ad account - spend $1-$5 per day for 30 days advertising picture of a cat or dog to warm it up. Then after 30 days move into advertising your medical products.

The Indian market for pharmaceuticals and functional foods is very tightly regulated, so account closures are quite common. In my experience, the most sustainable approach is to follow a policy of, educational content, avoiding treatment claims, and optimizing landing pages and trust signals instead of trying to push hard to sell.

Start by running a 100% "clean" campaign to build trust in your account for 1-2 weeks, then gradually incorporate sales content through chatbots (Messenger/WhatsApp) instead of displaying everything through ads.

I am currently facing many difficulties when running ads for products in the Indian market, especially those related to medicines and functional foods. Most of the accounts die very quickly
If any of you have worked in this field and have experience in optimizing, overcoming censorship barriers or effective customer approach methods, I would love to receive your sharing. My goal is to find a sustainable solution that can be implemented in the long term.

Why India is especially difficult for these products

For India, Meta enforces three layers at once:

A. Meta Ads Policy (global)

  • Medical claims
  • Supplements / functional foods
  • “Before–after”, cure, relief, diagnosis language
  • Implicit health outcomes

This is a very sensitive and difficult area to operate in due to Facebook's strict censorship policies. It requires using highly reputable accounts, profiles, and Pages; if you are still quickly disabled, consider an indirect approach instead of direct advertising.

I also used to get banned a lot for my gambling ads, and I spent a day reading Facebook's rules. I avoided the banned words, and since then, my ads have been banned very rarely.
