I have a brand new FB page targeted to an Indian audience on discounts and coupon codes. The page has around 70 likes so far mostly consisting of friends and relatives.

I tried out FB ads and it is turning out to be a costly affair which makes me wonder if it is a good idea to advertise a page with so few likes?

Would people be more prone to liking a page that already has a few thousands of likes? In other words, should I purchase some of those 1$ for 1k likes that are sold here on BHW to gain some momentum on my ad campaign? Please help and thanks a lot.

Its all a matter of how you want to progress. I would suggest you read thoroughly through the services here on BHW and make sure you pay attention to the replies on those threads. Read them all before buying a service. Always double check the positive reviews, who did they come from, how many posts does that user have, what kind of other post do they make here on BHW, are they a trusted and reputable member within the community. A service that has most of its positive reviews from new accounts I would not trust and move on to the next service. Sadly, if you do not pay attention to this sort of thing, you MIGHT get burned.

I also tried the paid ads for Facebook, and found that it was costing more then bringing in. So then I turned to the services here on BHW, the first one I tried gave me just under 900 when I ordered 1k. They also came from accounts that MOSTLY had NO display pictures, no user info, no content on their profiles. They looked VERY FAKE. Then I looked one more time for another service. After I searched through paying attention to the above tips I just gave you, I decided on a guy offering 1k for a very reasonable price. And it was the best few bucks I have ever spent. He has gone WAY BEYOND what I ordered, and I have combed through as much as I could and almost every single one looks like real accounts, may even possibly be real accounts. Display pictures, cover photos, personal info and random posts dating back more then a month. I still have to find 1 person that is a new account and I cant. I'm very happy with that service.

Anyways, to answer your last question, yes people will be more prone to liking a page that has many more likes on it. It shows its popular, sometimes trusted depending on your page niche, and not only that, you will rank higher. I suggest you make sure your page name is exactly as you want it tho....because after about 200 likes its no longer possible to change your name. And that name will help when ppl are searching fb pages. Hope this info helps. :)

You will gain 0 momentum with fake likes. Fake likes will make you look more legitimate, but that won't automatically make people like your page.

For example, don't expect that adding 10k fake likes will automatically start your page growth with real people liking your page daily. Just won't happen.
