Ok. Iam an affiliate with one of the major networks, and decided to do a purchase of one of the weight loss products through my link, and ofcourse make a commission off of it. So i put in my credit card number, and it tells me its been declined. I know my card is valid with enough funds to cover the purchase so i re-entered the number again and i get the same message that the card has been declined. I then went into my Account to check card activity, and the two charges that i made actually went through. Could the advertiser be ripping off affiliates whereby they decline the order that way the customer is not sent to the purchase confirmation page which in turn would trigger the pixel, for the advertiser to pay for the lead, or what do you guys think?

Definitely is a possibility, but you never know. Is the charge for a free trial cpa or was it an actual sale.

It's probably not a charge, it's just an authorization. That means it reserves the funds and puts a temporary hold on them, but since the purchase did not go through, these temporary authorizations will drop off in a few days.

If the company wanted to shave, they could just choose not to fire the pixel at all or have it fire once for every few sales. A CPA network is no less shady or trustworthy than the offers it promotes. :)

If the card is declined as their system says then there should be no authorization. Btw, they authorize the full amount for the shipping and handling ( usually 4.95) which is what most of the Cleansing offers charge.

If that is the case then it seems like something fishy is going on. Some of these rebills pre-authorize the full amount up front, which is usually ridiculously high...$90 for one unit of whatever they're selling.

Most of the offers claim that the cost to the customer is $4.95 for a 15 day trial, after which the customer is charged the full amount usually in the 90 dollar range like you said. When a customer pays the $4.95, the pixel fires and i as the affiliate gets paid for the sale. The problem i have in this case is that i was charged the $4.95, even though their sytem said that my card had been declined, and then the sale didn't even register on my affiliate account.
Iam waiting to see if the amounts post to my credit card account and i will dispute the charges.

That's just a how a credit card works, when you go to the gas pump and stick your credit card in sometimes they'll make sure your card is authorized for a purchase of up to $100 depending on the practices of the gas station.

I tracked some clicks to the clickbank payment page, and I was not credit for some of the sales. They say clickbank shaves, if that's the case, I don't know which network you are talking about.
