I plan to start an adult blog (just pictures, some nudity but nothing hardcore) but none of the hosting companies I currently use accept adult stuff. It's an experiment, so I don't really want to pay for hosting if a free alternative is available.

I understand tumblr and blogger both accept adult blogs - does anyone here have any experience of using either (or both) for adult material? Are there any restrictions, if so what? I'd just be posting pictures, possibly some text along with it, and have some image and text based ads (obviously not adsense)

This post says that Blogger is restrictive, but doesn't elaborate, anyone have any ideas?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

EDIT: I would also probably flip the site at some stage - I know changing ownership is easy enough with Blogger, what about tumblr?
EDIT2: Forgot to mention, if anyone has any experience of any other free blogging platforms, please say.

i would recommend a free blog hosting platform that is intended for adult content. you could check out thumblogger.com, sensualwriter.com, blogbugs.com. Do a google search for free adult blog host there are tons of them. The three I listed have been around along time. Only sensualwriter uses a version of wordpress though the other two use custom scripts but are not hard to learn and manage.

I have seen some blogger blogs get deleted, and heard of tumblr being deleted also. As with anything free hosted you are at the owners will.

I know, it's merely an experiment for now. I won't be using Google for traffic, all traffic will come from social media, so I don't have to worry about SEO at least. I'm aware of the competition, that's why I don't want to spend any/much cash on something which probably won't bring me much of a return.

Thanks, I'll check those out. The blog being deleted is a concern, that's why I'm considering using Blogger since I can just back it up regularly and create a new account or move it elsewhere if it gets banned. Not sure whether Tumblr/other sites have the option to back up.

Tumblr can go viral and drive a lot of traffic. If it goes viral, the traffic is internal and can continue for a long time.

Images seem to get reblogged a lot. There is a shocking amount of adult oriented stuff there.

Tumblr is pretty amazing, but it has alot of adult blogs, including one of mine, i currently managed to just hit 9k followers and i am raking in some cash from casual affiliate links etc, its not much, but if i flipped the blog i would deffs make a fair bit of cash, i also have it on autopilot, i have about two bots running it. Tumblr has a limit on how many pictures you can post or reblog a day so you got to keep careful, i havent ran into any trouble with tumblr yet so if you need any help or advice,PM me. I've personally used tumblr for years now.

I've successfully run an adult blog on Tumblr for a year and a half. It's up to 11.6k followers. I check the community guidelines every time they update them. I haven't run into any direct problems. You need to just flag your blog as NSFW and try not to host sexually explicit videos directly on your blog. A few are fine but they'd prefer you use a service dedicated to that kind of material. I haven't really seen that enforced, though. I'd definitely go with Tumblr.

i vote tumblr. i have many adult blogs on that site. pictures get reblogged and go viral in little to know time. you build a following and that will grow. you upload 300 pics at a time to each blog and let it basically run itself. you just put in a few hours a day of liking a few of our followers pics. tac on plugrush, juicy ads, image twist and imgchili.boom the money will trickle down

You'll be chasing pennies. Take KK's advice and do something else. You'd be better off getting a WP blog on paid hosting and using mostly written content to promote a micro-niche.

I've been in the adult online business for 15 years.

You would be much better off to just get a $10 hostgator or dreamhost account and start with a wordpress blog. Use videos because they engage the users and keep the user on your page longer, lowering the bounce rate. And be sure to write good text. Write a description about what is happening in the video, use good keywords and proper on-site SEO. Dont post anything that is misleading, because users will simply hit the back button and go away.

Also dont expect to get rich in adult from just one website, those days are long gone. I have hundreds of domains and each one gets a small amount of traffic... but hundreds of domains getting just a little traffic each = big traffic total.

you can obviously use Blogger dot com. But you have to tell them that you are going to use it for adult content. That's it.
BTW: By using the adult pictures you can't grab traffic that much and I doubt how much you can earn from that.
