So I am new to the whole wordpress thing and was wondering how can I put adsense on my blog? I tried signing up for the wordpress ads but I didn't get in. So is it possible and if yes how? Or is there any other way to monetize the blog similar to adsense?
Thanks in advance, I am pretty new to this :)

yes, but I don't have the free version, I paid for the .com . Does it change anything?
Will it change the layout of my page or do I have to create a totally new page?

Agree with what has been said, I set-up Wordpress self hosted and I was approved with my latest site, only 1 month old. Do make sure you have real content though.

Awesome thank you Conor!
I will do that as soon as I am home!
Is it a big hassle to set up Adsense once your page is self hosted?

Thanks alot! What do you mean with real content? I have a bunch of blog posts about the luxury niche with some not licensed pictures. Would you get in trouble if you take pictures from google with giving credit? or can you get sued?

If you already have an account on adsense, then no.
If not, you have to apply for adsense, and once you get approved you can use plugins like Ad Inserter to add ads on your site.

It depends on how much content you have. Google does tend to be a little bit fussy with the approval process, so make sure you have a good amount of readable content on your site. If your application gets rejected, just add more content and try again, it took me a good few tries before I was approved in the past.

Forget wordpress.com

Buy cheap hosting 5$, buy domain 5$, and install wordpress on your hosting. Than add adsense, any take money from them.
