I've been running a website for about a year now. My adsense earnings were steadily increasing month for month. I reached my peak Three months ago were I earned about $450.
I felt very motivated and decided to change the very ugly layout of my site. So I improved it, did a full make over. But I kept all of the old text content. It turned out to be a big misstake.

The upcoming month my earnings halved to about $220. But I still had almost the exact same amount of visitors, my rankings didn't decrease. And the previous month I earned just above $150. Still with the same amount of visitors.

People say that the niche heavily affects the CPC. Which it of course does. But looking at my most important top ranking keywords I see a recommended "Suggested bid"(CPC) of $5 in the adwords keyword planner.

And looking at google analytics, about 70% of my visitors are from English speaking countries. Whereas US top the list with 40% of the traffic.

I have about 8200 competing ads visible in my Ad Review Center, so the competition should be high?.

Basically I'm seeing some really bad earnings and I don't know how to move forward. I've tried mixing with some of the ad serving settings, blocking some of the ads in the ad Review center, changing ad locations etc. Now I don't know what's wrong or how to move forward.

Switch back to the old design.
I doesn't matter that it looks ugly if Adsense income is your main goal.

First rule: don't break the adsense terms! Delete your statistics asap - publishing this data is against their rules! I just wrote about that yesterday in my http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/my-journey-discussions/771502-health-blog-1000-per-day-3-months-post8077844.html#post8077844. Now on to your problem:
You changed settings here and there and have no idea when you changed what and what had a positive or negative effect. My advise: Go back to the standard settings. There are only very few cases I know of where adjusting the adserving improved the CPC. In general its just less competition on your adspaces.

If you can, go back to your previous layout. Maybe the old layout had more (or less) information (categories, subcategories, tagcloud, related posts etc) than the new one, triggering others ads to be served. Did you use the same ad-codes/channels or did you generate new ones? If you generated new ones, all targeted bids on old channels are gone with it.

Right thing to do is revert back to the old design and see if your earning is back to normal.
I have experienced the same scenario as yours where changing theme resulted my adsense earning from $450+ to $300.

Yes it depends on the Keywords but not always adsense will show ads related to the content, It shows ads related to the users browser history as well.

Thank you for the feedback, I removed the stats. I've already gone back to the old settings in adsense. As per recommendation here I will try to go back to the old layout. I'm just sceptic that it will increase my earnings, and it just feels like the old layout is discouraging for the visitors.

I doubt sharing just stats will get you in trouble. I have heard Sharing screenshots is not allowed Still go to facebook and see how many people post their adsense screenshots to show off Though Email ids are hidden, Going by this, Their all adsense account should be banned.

Nobody forces you to follow the agreement you accepted prior to signing up with google adsense. If you want to put your adsense account at risk, feel free to do so. You are capable of reading and making your own decisions - but you shouldn't advice other to do the same just because you don't care.
Its about playing safe - not to give them any reason at all to ban your acc.

Maybe in 2 years hes posting something BH he did or about his PBN or whatever and they dig up this thread and can identify his account because of these stats (everything is saved, you know that) then we might get another: "My adsense account got banned for NO REASON!" Thread ;) :D
