Which ads perform better image ads or text ads? I have poor CTR on my adsense displayed sites....

it really depends on the design of your site but generally, image ads outperform the text ads.
Text ads may perform better when they are "included" in the design of the site, which is a bit misleading and greyhat when you look at Adsense TOS.

Yes,but not if you edit the colors of your Ads to suit the colors of your site's theme. That way the Ads look like a part of your site(higher chance of clickthroughs) and not as spam.

You need both kinds and your text ads should blend into the other text on your site. However, you need to think of other ways besides adsense ads to monetize your site. Which way to go really depends upon your site itself. If it was built for adsense you may have limited options as to what will work best on your site.

Yes that's what I explained. That's why it becomes "misleading" for the user that believe it's a part of the site. If you look in google TOS, they would consider it as accidental clicks and may ban your account (they are easy on the ban trigger)

Experiment with both and see which works best. And experiment with ad placement too.

If you don't test, you'll never know.
