At the moment i have a word press site that shows various videos of various events. The site has a gateway on it so people have to complete a survey before they can watch a video. It is quite successful but i lose a hell of a lot of people who don't want to fill in the survey.

I recently came across a site that also shows videos but before the video starts playing an ad pops up over the video with a message saying close to play. You click the close button on the ad and the video starts.

It got me thinking and my question is, is it possible for me to have the same sort of thing happen on top of my videos but get paid every time the ad is clicked closed? I'm not bothered if the ad opens up or not (prefer it not to) as long as i get paid for their click. I would get a lot more clicks of people closing the ad then i would of people filling in the survey.

Is this possible and if so would it work? Only problem i would see if the same ad popping up for each video and the same ip clicking it closed.

    Can anyone help or advise?

I know the setup you are talking about, I've noticed it on a couple of movie streaming sites. I think when you click on they're ads it just triggers a pop up in a new window. I doubt they will be granted a paid "click" from their ad network for these clicks, maybe at best CPM or just straight sign ups from the pop up.

I think you would be banned from any ad network for making a user click an ad to view a video.

And what if he uses an email or zip offer on the popup?
If some one want to watch the movie then he should enter his/her email or zip !!

I think those ads pay per views not clicks, like $1 per 5,000 impresions or something.

Doh - That would be no good to me.

I am just trying to think of a better way than having a gateway as it seems to put people off.

Maybe i should go for blackhatcodebreaker or something.

In a bit of a pickle with this at the moment as not sure what would work best

Didn't you purchase WP Guardian from us? If so, have you tried using it on your movie site?

    Hi Oldenstylehats,

correct i did purchase Wp Guardian. Haven't got round to using it just yet. From what i can tell the 'ads' it uses are CPA offers. Is this correct? So the visitor would have to fill in an offer/email submit etc when it pops up? Is this correct? Are you able to set it up with ads rather than CPA offers?

I was going to set WP Guardian up on one of my other sites that shows other footage other than movies.
