You know, it's not a bad thing to admit that you screwed up. We all do it and I did it pretty recently... actually hosed a couple of good clients. When you make a mistake, own it, tell the truth and fix it. Then overcompensate for your error... if the client does not want compensation for your error or refuses it, go ahead and offer something different. Don't get paid for something unless you provide the product/service that you offered and don't get paid if you did not supply the service/product in a timely manner. Everyone makes mistakes but the guy that makes up for his mistakes is the one that will shine. Business is not all about making money... business is really about making sure that you take proper care of your clients and if you mess up, own the mistake and make up for the mistake. Good business people are good people and care about the well being of their clients.
