It should help. You may rank for them too and get some traffic plus it will certainly help with semantic relations. However, Dont over do it. Writing for the reader is always the best way.

Here is a little something I do that may help you with some of your onsite, @tunescool.

I'll create the title of the article and make it something like this:

The Best Fishing Supplies Available for Catching Giant Bass!

Then I'll change the permalink so it is not redundant and take advantage of a little domain seo.

    domain.com/fishing-gear-huge-bass

Then in the body of the article I will use a variety of LSI keywords and synonyms that relate to Fishing Gear.

When building an article on a low volume search term, don't just focus on wedging in a larger volume search phrase, but niche up if you can to build total site topical relevance.

    Example:
Low search volume keyword: the shining movie
    Title: The Shining Movie Review
But if your site will be reviewing other Stephen King Movies, make sure to pepper in phrases around that as well, like "one of the best Stephen King Movies" and "Stephen King book adapted into a movie" and such, to provide your site topical relevance and help it rank for other nonfocused keywords.
