So I was just looking at the big G's search results and noticed the "add a result" link under the results page number.

This got me thinking, how many people would need to add the same result for the same keyword for it to show up on the first page?

Does it even work like this?

Also if enough people click the "X" beside a listing, will it lose rank?

What, you thought I already had the method worked out?

That's where BHW comes in, a massive think tank...

Anyone know of any automation that would test this?

I think it would have to be real people doing this though...

If it even works like this...

    Any ideas?

you have to be logged into google to see that and the results are personalised so they only affect you...not everyone....i also saw that they also added pagerank of sites too

    ah, I see..

It only shows up if you are logged in to a google account

This would be to keep people from coming thru with a different IP and adding results, and so the results you add show up next time you search.

This leads me to believe that we should be able to change the search results.

yes dayo, I know they are personalized at first, but do you think Google would let that data go unused?

If enough people added the same result for the same keyword, I am sure rankings would change.

Google is all about relevance, if they think a bunch of real people find something relevant they would probably give it more weight.

This is Google's new direction... I think...

    Home Page:
Google made a lot of new changes that only effect your results when your logged in with your gmail account. You can now comment in a simple wiki on results etc...

If you added a result under your browser, then wouldn't it just show up under your browser ?

    Does that make sense ?

Ok, A google employee recently did an interview about their ranking algorithm I believe on 12/12/08... She sais Google Search Wiki (what they call the personalized results) does NOT effect results. Yet! She did say that they hope to start using the data in ealry 2009. Meaning by March 2009. Google Wiki data WILL effect search results of other people.
