Provocative title, I know...anyway, I found an interesting article on Reddit earlier that discusses the impact of adblock on the internet advertising sector. I use adblock because I hate watching those stupid adverts on YouTube that play before every video...I love it.

    Anyway, thoughts?

Ad sense doesn't makes any sense. Definitely it will be a huge impact for Google and who knows if Google file a lawsuit against them claiming this has caused damage to them..

You're overlooking that reddit is full of geeks and the rest of the population doesn't even know what AdBlock is. Does it have an impact? Yes. But it's in the 0.00001% range.

From what I know Google paid ad block to have adsense ads allowed by default, conclude yourself...

    Christianbed,

No offence but is the root of your issue really related to Ad block. Would it not be better to look at your amount of incoming link and perhaps also to look at the subject of your website that does not generate "sexy" ads from adsense or perhaps visitors that don't click on your ads.

From my experience, when you have a website that promotes manufactured items, you get significant numbers of clicks as compared to your number of visitors. If you have a website related to something different. You may not received so many clicks per visitors.

Some niche converts better than others.

I agree but I would say your impact number is a bit of an understatement.
A ton of people are using it without being "geeks". Especially young males (afaik).

There are hundreds of new ppl entering the "world of internet" like someone's grandman or grandpaa. They don't even know how to use a mouse, so we don't expect them to be using adblock. :)

I think the glory days of Adsense are over anyway IMO, even the text ads look too much like ads now and they don't target the page content like they once did. I think Adsense post 2013 is a complete waste of time, unless you have a super high traffic site and need something to fill banner inventory.

Also when the click area was reduced. I recall when they changed that my earnings went 30% down in one day.
