Over time, I've spoken with many people that want to make money online and find that many don't know where to start. Should I promote CPA offers, should I start selling a service or should I look at generating ad revenue from platforms like AdSense and InfoLinks? First off, I'd like to say that right now, I'll be focusing on Keyword Research and AdSense. I'll make posts covering additional topics in the future but for now, I would like to start off with what I feel is most important.

KeyWord Research:

To have a website, you need a domain. To pick a good domain you need to do good keyword research, especially when starting a site to earn revenue from AdSense. Use the Google Keyword Tool to find keywords that have a good search volume with a decent CPC (Cost per Click). The idea is to pick a niche that's high paying per click, while targeting keywords within that niche that will be relatively easy to rank for. You want to create what's called an EMD (Exact Match Domain), so if your website is going to be based on "Pet Food Coupons", your best domain choice would be PetFoodCoupons.com (Or .Net .Info but .Com preferably) as it would be easier to rank for. Having the exact search terms in your domain in the same exact order that someone would search to find your site is your goal and will ultimately help you in the short and long run. A few months ago, I started a MNS (Micro Niche Site) site in the medical field with a $4.40+ average CPC. My EMD has over 27,100 exact monthly searches, my site receives over 200 unique visitors per day and is averaging $40 per day with AdSense! So with a little work, keyword research and dedication, you to can become successful online. Remember, it can't be done overnight but anything done over night is not being done for the long run. If anyone needs advice or help, please post a comment below and I'll help you in any way I can. I'll be making a new post that will go much more in depth so check back soon for a new post. :)

Nice post for newbies, how long did it take to reach your 200 unique visitors per day? Did you do any other type of SEO or did you just let the EMD take care of attracting your visitors? Thanks, keep up the informative posts.

EMD's definitely give you a competitive advantage in my opinion. Of course off site SEO (Article Marketing, Blog Commenting, Link Building etc.) are important, but first, on site SEO is the first step as it's how the search engines interpret what your site is about so your domain name in my opinion is part of on site SEO as it gives SE's a good idea of what your site is about right from the start.
