Long story short, my clients main competitor was using a .net, I acquired their .com domain, the keyword alone gets 25k searches per month. I offered to sell it to them and they are being cheap offering me like 10% of what Im asking. Should I rank it and syphon all the traffic? what should I do? anybody have experience with this? dont want to get into legal issues but its not a big international brand, and Im sure I can rank the TLD very easily as they know nothing about SEO. Any suggestions or advice? thanks!

So you intend competing with your client and his competitor? Or do you intend to send the traffic to your client?

If you can’t get at least a 500% markup on the domain dont even bother, he is the one with the sweaty palms rn not you, start revamping the site and you are bound to get him on his knees.
You got a huge initiative, don't let it slip through!

I have read this twice and still unsure as to your question.

Are you saying if your ( paying ) client doesn't pay you enough to get this second domain, you're going to set the site and compete against them?

If so, you're another on my list of people I will never have any business dealings with.

My guess is that if you have to steal clients keywords and compete against them. It is highly likely that it is you that knows fuck all about SEO.

I intend on competing against my clients competitor or benefitting my client and syphoning traffic to them or making a review site and putting my client above them this will really make them want to purchase name

Yeah bro, I got a good opportunity here, actually their current website is down right now, they dont know anything about search engines, they offered me very little for the main .com I think I should be able to get way more

Tread carefully, some may see this as a conflict of interest possibly, you working for company A and also dealing with their main rival.

You obviously did not understand what I posted, before you go ranting and acting like a prick back the f**k off and read what I asked. I said I bought the .com and they obviously understand theres value but are being cheap about it. No one is saying anything about stealing keywords for anyone, my question is clearly about selling my clients competitors TLD, I dont want to be a douche and take over their keywords but if that forces them to buy it from me it will be for my benefit, and yes I do know about SEO

Do that and forget selling the site to them... get your client the benefit of the site and make sure you get compensated for the extra effort.

Calm down queen, why not just put that in your fucking post instead of writing a cryptic clue. You said "Syphon off their traffic".

Your review site idea is nice. While ranking yourself on top is nice, you can rent them a place on the leader boards for a recurring monthly rate. :D
