Accounts following millions of users? How's that possible?

Topic. Maybe those accounts were created when IG was born and never got limited?

Two examples:

either instagram was very new or there could be a possibility that instagram runs them. whatever method they used then I would like to know

yep, both are ancient accs, i remember these two when i came accross ig at first ~3 years ago, but if you take a look at the top 100 accs with the most followings, you can find accs with similar stats, between 5,4 M (1st) and 700k (100th), i follow somewhere halfway between these two numbers, although not on a single account, but hundreds of them lol
