So, I'm an artist based in the UK and have had the same Instagram account for about 9 years. I have just under 50k followers. I built it up from nothing and received decent engagement and reach numbers up until last year. Around last year it dropped to around 20% reach but in the last month is down much lower.
I used to get 1000+ likes on every post, then it went down to 600 with the occasional 1000+ and in the last couple of weeks it's about 2-400. The content is original and high quality, and I often receive 20-50 comments on a post (or at least did when the reach was a bit better).
On top of this, hashtags simply dont work at all. I show up in the new listings under the specific hashtags so I don't think it's shadow banned, but I don't get more than 10-50 views from them. It used to be loads! 9 out of 10 posts is less than 1% of the reach were not my followers.
I used the follow/unfollow method quite heavily at one point and also recently paid for a service to remove inactive follows which got rid of about 8k inactive followers.
I don't post very regularly (once or twice a week as the work takes a long time to make) but try and put a story up every day which usually gets between 400 and 1000 views.
I'm just looking for any advice or insight as to how I should get the account back to good health. There's no point me getting more followers if my reach is so low. Instagram seems to be penalising my account for something.
Any help would be very much appreciated
