Hi guys, so what's up with this? Anyone noticed struggles while ranking with a (new) EMD? Yesterday I came across to this video where Matt Cutts says at 2:20 in the video: ?So we have been thinking about adjusting that mix a bit and sort of turning the knob down within the algorithm, so that given two different domains it wouldn?t necessarily help you as much to have a domain name with a bunch of keywords in it.? Matt Cutts video: video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAWFv43qubI Also I've read a tweet of Rand Fishkin (founder of SEOMOZ) where someone asked him about his experiences with EMD. This is what he replied: "Exact match is still very powerful. In the US, though, my experience has been the power is dropping a little, though" I am looking forward to your experiences and perhaps some useful tips how to keep the EMD still powerful. Have a good day all!
why dont google just turn all the knobs down and just throw buckets of water on their servers... .. what are they upto?? I mean cmon, if you fail to stop web spam will you come down to this??
Stop listening to this fucking guy. He is stupid , False info 99.9% of the time and he's a child molester. :rocketwho
people will keep abusing everything... why dont they just shake hands with us and we both can set some limits where we both will have our shares of $$ ... live and let live
This is interesting, but I don't really like to keep up with all of the latest IM news as it takes away from my link-building time.
Google changing their algorythm every couple of weeks is begining to get a bit annoying. I sometimes wonder how much of this is due to Bing gaining larger shares over time, it's already consumed all our Yahoo hits at work, and its increasing by a small amount every month. Rank based on what people click on after a search is always going to be better than a schizoid algorythm decided by a company whos main interest is advertising revenue... (Although I gotta say don't use bing myself lol)
To me, it only makes sense. As we continue, we will run out of good domain names. Why should the good companies later down the road be penalized because we bought the exact name domains? If I was Google, I too would give less importance to it. Having said that, it would hurt some of my operations but that is the risk I have to take.
if I were him, I will give 90% "wrong" suggestion and maybe 10% "valid" suggestion. if everything he said is valid, BHW should not exist. bear
This is the only afirmation I totaly agree in this thread. google might have turned the volume down for this but I see an increase in backlinks importance. Also do--follow are harder to find then before. At least its not an exact sience anymore, numbers is the actual game now!
just like when you could put numbers in a domain and buy it lol.. But this all makes sense...Look at the Worldwide IP database...A few months ago it ran out of IP to assign to people...This is why ipv6 is soo important.. The same concept applies to google..
LOL This is really funny... So if I own a real (not spam website) that sells ONLY vacuum cleaners in Oregon and I name it "myvacuumcleanersoregon.com" G will disregard that? My ass he will. This is just a distraction for keeping newbies purchasing powerful tools and keep spamming the web and they can't do much about it. They can just in one case IMHO, if they hire people to check manually each and every website that google lists in google search. All of this "publishing in public" is distraction and misleading IMHO.
What is even funnier is How you think they wouldnt then put a limit on the amount of characters you could have in a domain.. Just to kick guys like you right in the balls who would want to do that.. Google runs the internet in case you havent noticed.
Stop listening to this Idiot! HE KNOWS SHIT!!! Why you all post his geeky videos all the time here? But hats off for him for making money from talking shit. Thats a Black Hat first class.
You have it backwards though. He doesn't make money from talking shit, he talks shit because they pay him money to do it. It may seem like it is the exact same thing, but it really isn't. I have no hate for this guy and I think people need to lay back a little. I don't understand how people can hate on this video in particular. He is stating very simply that you do not need an exact match domain or keyword in your domain name to rank well, and he is correct. He also very clearly states that Google does take keywords in domain name into consideration when ranking, and that it positively effects rankings. Many people starting SEO are not aware of little things like this. I just don't get the hate.
Another Matt Cunts videos.....Puke. I think all future Matt Cunts crap should be banned. They mean nothing. He just likes to watch his hits on Youtube, to see how many people fall for his new line of BS.
You don't get it - hate is for people that are making WF from this place, and are bringing "Gurus" videos here... As I said - hats off to guy who is Making Money from talking - yes, this way, not other way around.
Am I really missing something here? Is Matt Cutts not employed by Google? A Guru is a self-promoted, self-employed "master" of the trade. I don't think Matt Cutts gets paid for how many views his channel gets. If I am wrong, show me this. He isn't giving his personal opinion on things, he is told basically what to say I am sure, and then he just phrases it in a more natural way. He is a spokesperson. A face behind an otherwise faceless company. His blog, as he clearly states in his disclaimer, is a completely different story. I can understand people hating on him for his personal blog, but not on the youtube official channel. The guy is a legit hard worker and knows a lot more about a lot of things internet and computer related than 99.9% of us. Would we be hating on Betty White if they chose her to read and answer the questions on the youtube channel? If you think all Matt Cutts does is talk, and thats how he gets paid, I just don't know what to think. Edit: And don't say the hate is for the people who brought the videos here... You clearly said "Stop listening to this Idiot! HE KNOWS SHIT!!! Why you all post his geeky videos all the time here?" Insulting him personally, when he is just doing his job.
Cutts is knowledgable about protecting Google's bottom line and WH mythology, for which he is well compensated, while packaging it as being a noble guardian of the web. This mock interview still sums up Cutts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPa6yKnRSFQ
