So I made a website around 3 months ago for Amazon affiliate. The keyword I found had 1,300 monthly searches for the main keyword in the US search engines. I decided to target it and rank for it. After 3 months, I checked SEMRush and found that I'm ranking for 4 keywords in US Google but NOT for the main keyword. I'm only ranking for the really long tail keywords with 10 - 100 monthly searches. That pissed me off because I spent money on content etc for the site. HOWEVER, I checked UK Google stats in SEMRush and I'm ranking #12 for the main keyword I'm targeting, and what surprised me was the searches for the keyword was waay higher at 3,200 monthly searches. That's when I decided to update my website and target mostly UK visitors using UK amazon associates. So far, rankings are stable and are improving. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming hosting location plays some degree of importance in the rankings of websites. My hosting for the site is located quite close (Leeds) so I'm guessing Google assumes my website would better suit UK visitors rather than the US. Is there any advice anyone can give about ranking for US Google too?
