I have a new client who wants some SEO work done on his website. He is an the owner of a family run business. Another family member is the holder of password and log in information and is holding all sites hostage.

We need access to the website to change the login information and host on a different server. We cannot determine who is hosting site either, so can't go thru that angle to change information.

Any help would be appreciated. Again - the owner of the website, is the owner of the company - we are not asking for anything illegal.

We need to know how much it would cost us for this information to be given to us.

    Thanks.

Another family member is holding the sites hostage? Come on, you can do better than that.

I could prove it to you by giving the site name and the owners phone number. When we find someone who can assist us, that is what will be done.

I really appreciate your snarky attitude. Maybe most people lie and cheat - that is not what I was trying to do. I was looking for some legitimate way to help these people out, since it is their business and their lives we are talking about.

I will tell you what I told the nice girl above.

It is convenient to think everyone lies, and cheats. We are an above board agency trying to help a client save their business. I would gladly give the information of the owner and his personal cell to someone who can assist us.

I thought there were people here who had some knowledge as to how to help this man.

I do not necessarily believe the IP, but if he wants to know who is hosting the site: whois IP

Exactly... doing an whois search on the domain name, should let you know the hosting company.
If your client has the accounts in their name, they should be able to call up to the hosting company and get a password change on verification.
furthermore, if the email is a known one, just reset....
