This is not expected from BHW. Is this community now lagging behind catching up with latest trends? The entire internet and SEO Industry in particular is now abuzz with Author Markup and AUTHOR RANK concept of Google. Author Rank has not been introduced yet, but it's going to be introduced soon. Google has already filed for patent. Once it is introduced, it's effect will be greater than all the Panda, Penguin effect combined and it's going to change the SEO landscape forever. Am not going to link any articles here, just search in google. All major SEO sites including SEOmoz is covering it.

I am ready to work online for 3-4 years without a dime to get a solid author rank. Think about it. Once you get a solid author rank, you will be golden, probably even offline. Media houses will run after you to get you on board to get advantage of your author rank.

Instead of endlessly running in circles about the next valued source of backlinks and then getting slapped in the face when that source gets devalued, can we please talk about ways to increase our author rank, especially when all Joe and Jane have not jumped on board to increase their author rank?

Let's see how the discussion goes.

Lets make some money Today forget yesterday and tommorow

Author markup isn't going to change seo. Like, oxonbeef said, users will get else where.

Author is an individual not an entity.

So, I am guessing that Google is going to make a pecking order, big corporations, author mark ups, then everyone else.

Everyone knows Google favors big corporations, next it will be authors.

Considering 80% of the websites aren't big corporate empires and authorship doesn't apply.

They are going down dangerous territory with that ideology.

Why do you bother about the future? Most of the people won't bother about it and when things are needed to be changed they will make a game plan accordingly.

The web is already way too big for Google to control it and is growing exponentially, growth which Google can't keep up with. So they can't stop SEO unless they ruin the whole web with stupid updates like Penguin.

Wouldn't worry about it.. if there's money to be made in finding a way around it you can be sure someone will come up with a blackhat way to beat it :)

Don't care about "Gaming SEO"... I care about the money. If I don't need to game google for money, then why would I care about "Gaming SEO"

Those with a solid head on their shoulders are constructing sites built on strong foundations, businesses and long-term diverse solutions to providing themselves with income online.

While there may be opportunity to earn with fly-by-night techniques, if "gaming" a system is all that you are focusing on, you are doomed to fail, regardless of who holds the purse strings.

While Author Rank may eventually become one of the factors used to determine rank, it will be only one of many. It will be some time before current SEO trends are no longer relevant. As the Internet evolves, so do marketing methods and influence. You either adapt, grow and build an empire, or complain about who the next algorithm favors.

This sounds like a rant in desperation trying to justify putting so much time into author rank. Sure author rank will probably happen and it will be another factor to consider but i would have thought everyone here already builds link pyramids around good quality content anyway. Ok this might need tweaking a bit and you might need to concentrate only on a few accounts or authors if you like rather than having lots which must people bin after a while but that's easily changed. No big deal really

I guess google should focus on their search quality now instead of introducing another briliant idea. Or just sell TOP 10 for each keywords for the highest bidders and stop that comedy with "organic results."
