Can you enable ads on your videos if you use a hand-held camera to record the TV?

For example, I record a section of a sports game using my phone and then upload it to Youtube. Can I enable ads and earn revenue like this?

    Simple answer: No.

Advanced answer: If you get permission from the TV channel to publish that information that you recorded, its okay.

Darn. You would think that since you record it yourself, it wouldn't count as copyright infringement.

    Thanks for the answers.

Recording someone elses commercial material and then distributing it to others (with or without monetizing) is the core foundational principal of copyright infringement.
