Hey, I don't know anything about viruses I just have an antivirus on my computer. I would like to know, if for example I download a torrent with an .mp4 video inside and a picture is there any way to get virus?
Seems suspicious site where im downloading.

I mean, wouldn't be clear if a .exe file is inside?

Not just .exe. You may also get infected through the following extensions.

jar/doc/js/bat/dll/pdf/html

If you see any of these extensions, deselect them before downloading.

Video files are not typically thought of as potentially malicious or infected file types, but it is possible for malware to be embedded in or disguised as a video file. Due to this common misconception, audio and video files are incredibly intriguing threat vectors for malware writers.

Yes but a malware could be embedded in any file. Not just mp4 and audio right?

Zips and rars without opening them are safe right?

It's a bit more complicated than just checking the file extension.

For example there's the "right-to-left" attack which basically means that a special invisible character is inserted in the filename so that it changes the order of reading. So, a file you see as "AmazingCombat.mp4" is really named (i.e. what your computer sees) "AmazingCommp4.bat" (which is an executable) :D

Use a good antivirus, they catch things like that. I suggest Kaspersky.
