    So I decided to change the theme of this site because it was not user-friendly. I have read here and there that changing the theme will cause SERPS falling. Site is 2 years old, PR5. Any suggestions on how to minimize these effects? Any personal experience on this?

    Hmmm....I would not really agree that it would fail on the SERPS. We have changed our website design three times this year until we noticed the increase in the conversion rate. Also, we tried to make our website as fast as possible minimizing the image size and the weight of the site in general. After these changes we got PR6 instead of PR5. Our website is running from 2008 and in total we have made so many changes that I even can't remember and what I would suggest for you is:
    1. If you change your design you need to see that your design weight in KB is smaller;
    2. Leave the content the same or if you want to change something, make changes slowly;
    3. Make sure, that your bounce rate is low (this is really very important);
    4. Use website tools like websitetest.org to ensure that your website request are minimal (it is recommended to keep about from 15-30 requests), no more than that;

    If you need help, I would be really happy to help you on this.

    I don't think you will have an issue with a theme change, it something I have done a few times, just don't change the content or titles and you should be fine.

    Follow casius tips and you should be good to go
