    Hi, and happy 2013...

I have an old website that I don't use anymore. It is not de-indexed but the domain has bad rankings due to some bad off page SEO that I made right before the first Penguin update...

If I delete this website and I use its content (which is 100% original) on a new website (with a new domain) will the content be considered duplicated or someway penalised?

    Thanks

If i were you i would take the domain offline OR change the content on the page to something other then the content you would like to re-use. I wouldn't put the content up till google either indexes your net content of if you take the domain down, wait till Google drops it from their index all together.

Also just to be safe you could add a little more. Try to make it at the least 20% different then what it is now. Anyway you slice it tho i would not post the content unless google has purged the connection from it to your old site/page.

So the most important thing would be waiting a couple of months between deleting and reusing?

I was going to the same with an old site of mine recently as well until i found that the content had been copied by a ton of other scraper sites already...

And while this might have been ok for the original site because google would have seen that it had indexed it there first, if you go and move the content to your new site and it has already been duplicated elsewhere, your new site will most likely be seen by google as being a scraper site too..

Check for your site's content being duplicated by searching for a couple of sentences from each page in "" or in other words "like this". If it's duplicated elsewhere you're better off creating fresh new content. It's a bitch considering you're the one who originally created the content, but i had to do it too.

My site is in italian, and italian content is not scraped as much as english content, but I would have checked with copyscape before deleting
