Hey,

I ain't sure if this topic or suggestion has been raised up earlier and if so then mods please delete this thread and if not then I would love to hear out suggestions from other BST thread owners.

I often feel if BST thread owners had the ability or powers to edit their first post so that they can add up any special promotional offers, limited time offers, testimonials and update the post whenever they want too. (Since the buyers look at the first post every time they visit a certain thread on the BST Section). It's embarrassing to disturb a Mod each time we wanna make a change.

I ain't sure if this suggestion will get through but I thought it would be worth a try to suggest this and I am sure all the BST owner would love this.

I am open for more suggestions or discussion on this one.

Regards,
UG

EDIT: Got an awesome suggestion from BigFatWallet. I will quote his suggestion:

Here is a better suggestion, BST sellers can reserve below the MOD approval post once the thread is live and edit that to announce any special offers that they want to offer down the road.

It would be great but it might have bad sides too.
Like for example, when there are problems with your order, you got to bst owner and ask for refund that he said will be available, but he dits the thread and changes the refund policy ro something.
It might not be the best example, but I just want to look at the things from that part too.

Other than that, I fully support this!

It is a good suggestion but I doubt it will be taken into consideration for a reason which makes sense to me.

A BST thread is approved for the kind of service offered in the OP after it is reviewed taking into consideration a lot of factors such as pricing, quality of service etc. If BST sellers are given a choice to edit their threads at will then they may change the original service that the BST thread was originally approved for, which would make it increasingly difficult for mods to keep a tab of.

Although it won't be as good as having the deal up in the OP but still you have the announcement up on the first page and not the last.

Again this probably won't work.

What if someone changes their pricing? Changes parts of their service hugely?

Its a fair idea but IMO it won't work.

Updating BST threads are done by staff approval only.

I understand that having the ability to edit it yourself would be beneficial. Unfortunately, the risk of abuse is too high and the staff approves not only the service before it's presented to the forum, but the sales thread wording.

Yes, that can happen but I have a solution for that. How about we make the 2nd post on the thread editable that way 2nd post will be completely used for testimonials, promotions etc. Just a thought

Yes, I completely agree with that and love your suggestion. Everytime we make a change, a mod will be automatically notified and unless they approve, the new changes won't go live.

I like BigFatWallet's suggestion. I think his suggestion is pretty much doable.

Yep nice suggestion but as leith says it won't work...

Pofecker, I agree it would risk the buyers but I think BigFatWallet's suggestion is pretty much doable since a staff would be involved everytime when we make changes.

This is how things would work:

-- Thread owner updates the main thread and a notification is send to a staff or Mod, then he reviews the updates and approves it. The moment the new updates are approved, they would be go live. I am sure this is doable and this won't involve any kind of risk.

I am adding this suggestion to the main post.

seems like a good idea but it would be heavily abused.

I ain't sure if you really read the other post and the new updates I added on the first post. I mentioned that every time someone makes an update, an automatic notification would be sent to a mod section and they will approve it before it goes live.

Mods already have a huge amount of work to do for the forum. This would probably add to their already high work load. Maybe we could have a few more Mods who can do this but I don't think that could work. Just my opinion. The idea would work - but I don't think it would be made official as it just increases the work for the Moderators or Admins.

PM to the staff member that approved your service normally works.

Wouldn't this work?

Can't you post graphics that are actually hosted on another website? If so, then all you have to do is edit the graphics, right? You could even place a few 1px square graphics on the bottom for later use (like copies of reviews) Or does the forum download and store the graphics on the domain once they're inserted? I honestly don't know this forum stores them...

Yes, I guess.

This is actually a good idea but having everything as a image increases the loading time of the thread as images are usually heavy.

i wouldn't recommend this. for now, all changes to BSTs need to be manually approved by a moderator. any attempt to make changes yourself could be viewed as an attempt to circumvent the rules, and therefore could get you banned. ;)

Definitely see where OP is coming from. Unfortunately, this opens the door to some pretty bad abuse. Not to mention there are already enough people abusing things as is.

I second the rule of having a post under the Mod's to make any updates.
