    Hi Everybody,

This is the first time when we are posting in this section in last two years. We are definitely not very fond of posting here but the issues that we faced this time warrant us to take this step. Due to lack of experience in posting here, this is my third attempt in getting this post approved. I have considerably toned down my original message. I am attaching the email series with this thread as the proof. And I am trying to be as sweet and short as possible, considering the depth of the problem that we have on cards. I seriously hope that mods will find it suitable this time.

This thing began when we made a piece of software for the user Affiliate X. The price was $1500 and delivery was made as per his specifications. After we asked for the money, we got an email from another guy Robert who claimed himself to be from Police (HRPD). This guy told us that the original user was detained because of some illegal activities and he is under their custody. They won't pay us anything and rather we should consider ourselves lucky that they are not taking any action against us.

We have been dealing with people for quite some time and the first thing that struck us was that it was just another prank because the user wants to run away with the money. We decided to resist it. The guy from police kept on threatening us with his stories. This went on for a couple of days and when we warned him about the shit list thread, we got another mail from him that he has notified Google and BHW and he will now take actions against us.

We don't want to be suppressed by Police or Google for a genuine service that we provide. Affiliate X should be banned because he is involved in illegal activities and is under police custody. We also seek suggestions from people here on how we can claim our money for the work that has gone into this job.

    Thanks

if you really did nothing wrong (and i think the service you offer is completely in compliance with the law) and you have the personal details of that guy you should press charges against him yourself for not paying the software.
i mean, it´s $1.5k so should be worth it.
on the other hand sounds very implausible the story with the police, for me it sounds more that he tries to scare you so that he doesn´t have to pay.
why don´t you just ask at the police department if they know anything about it?
if they don´t and he invented the story also press charges against him for blackmailing you.

I'm not sure what HRPD is but it sounds like a Police Department. If it's a legitimate Police Department then pick up the phone and call them. Ask to speak to this Detective. If he's not available then ask to speak to his Superior.

My guess is this person doesn't exist at the Police Department or doesn't have a clue about these emails.

I've received many emails from Police departments even one asking for a supplier for a specific and unique duct tape we used to sell because a murder took place using this brand of duct tape about 100 miles from us. What they've all done is full disclosed their full name, rank, address, phone number and typically a case number. I've never seen such an email from a real Officer that didn't disclose all of his business contact information.

I'm also calling bullshit. Call the police department and ask them for their "Mr. Robert Palin". Either that is a piss poor cop or a liar posing as one.

We all know when police take someone into custody, the first thing they do is check to see if anyone made a custom bot for them and email them right away...

Oh my god, how would you even consider that actual police contacted you??? People get too intimated by even the illusion of an authority figure...

and seriously, a police officer that writes you from a @live.ca account and ends his text with "Enjoy"?

call the police, explain the situation and ask if they can confirm your suspicion and i´m pretty sure they will more then gladly even help you to solve that matter.

What a total load of bullshit.

"I have also managed to access a limited amount of information within one of your accounts and I have sent Google a detailed, itemized list containing order information for 42 pieces of software made to manipulate Google or other Google related products/services."

Ah, the serious crime of Manipulating Google. I believe that carries the death penalty.

"This and all other accounts associated with said user have been detained for illegal activity. State your association with said user. "

Yes, the first thing any police department does is email all someone's contacts and tell them exactly what's happened. There's no way that would cause people who have assisted the person to destroy evidence...

What I'd do, is rather than ringing the police department, get some way to record phone calls.
Once you've got that, call Adam Marsh.

    *removed*

If he still refuses, contact his local police department, with the recording, and his address:

    *removed*

    (Google is awesome, isn't it?)

I believe fraud & impersonating a police officer are both serious crimes. :D

better edit your post, it´s not allowed to post personal information here.
although you found them public through google i would better edit the post and ask a mod before if it´s ok to post the details.

Just ask the Palin guy for his departmental phone number and badge number, so you can confirm his identity. Tell him if he is legit then you will resect his wishes, if not then you will press charges against him ;-)

I'll also chime in: based on the language and silly threats in the emails I also believe this is total rubbish aimed at scamming you out of your fee.

"Robert" (aka Affiliate X) never identifies his department, only mentions HRPD. Never mentions his own rank, and makes weak and bizarre attempts at pseudo-legalistic language. The sudden and conspicuous reference to blackhatworld made it all the more obvious.

does his email come from a city managed email account or some gmail/yahoo acct? That's a very quick way to spot a fake. Impersonating a police offer is a serious crime. Take your evidence to the police or better yet, threaten the user that you will take his emails to the police and they will charge him with impersonating an offer, which is a felony i believe.

Impersonating a police officer isn't exactly legal so report this case to either your local authorities or his.

This might be one of the most ridiculous conversations I've ever seen on this forum. Seriously I can't believe this is even a discussion.
