*disclaimer: we have a phrase in German saying "If you find any typos, keep them!" as I'm not a native speaker. So please have mercy!
Hello folks,
it's time, after spending 3 years here on BHW and making numerous mistakes, gaining experience from it and making more mistakes, I thought it would be great to start a journey. Well, it's actually not my first one but more on this topic later (if you aren't asleep yet).
Who am I?
*you can skip this part, really, no offence!
If I need to answer this question honestly, I would say first of all I'm 31 years old and a happy mother. I've got two daughters (2 and 5 yo) who are my everything. They are great and my elixir of life but they are also the main reason, I haven't got so much time for things I really want to do, like IM.
I can't change that and I learnt to accept it.
Another factor that limits my spare time is my full-time job as a teacher. I love my kids at school and my job in general but the school system can be a piece of sh*t and corona proved it once again.
Enough crying, let's get right into it.
The last 3 years (long ass read)
I'm suffering of something called "the shiny object"- syndrome. If I reconsider the last 3 years, I'd say 90% of that time I was just reading about lots of interesting stuff: SEO, App - development, making money on social media (YouTube, Quora, Facebook, IG), dropshipping, CPA, domain flipping, wordpress, cryptocurrencies and so on.
From today's perspective I'd say that this wasn't a waste of time, my problem was (and still is) that I couldn't stick to one thing for very long and moved on to another.
Just a recap :
YouTube - in 2017 I started a gaming channel in my mother tongue and got 500+ subscribers but unfortunately I had not enough time to become more successful. In 2019 I started a TikTok-compilation channel and reached almost 1k subscribers and had videos with 200-300k views (too bad it isn't monetizable and was just an experiment).
Quora - I partnered with someone here on BHW to make a journey thread on Quora (Here is the thread) , I didn't reach the goal but it was profitable, made some money with my Quora partner account and sold it for profit.
Instagram - I was lucky to find a good seller for IG- accounts here on BHW, the account had a great amount of engagement and I managed to grow it from 6k to 15k followers. I sold shoutouts, tried to promote a few things but then I lost interest. Sold this account and made profit, too.
Clickbank - I'm not a big friend of CB, I wasted too much money because I was a lazy person who didn't realize that direct linking isn't how it should be done. However, I found a good product, started a successful FB campaign and made around 100$. This was 2 years ago and I never managed to be profitable again.
Appen - again I found it here on BHW. A member posted a thread about this website and I applied for a simple job with a gread payout ($18/hour) I got accepted and worked for 2 months during my paternal leave (we can take a year off here in Germany after having a baby).
I managed to get 2500 Euro and that was enough for a good side income.
Cryptocurrencies - I learnt about BTC and crypto at the best time possible, Dec. 2017
So I said to myself that this will be the next big thing and investing in a certain project would make me rich (*cough*) I worked for a crypto - project for several months and earned 1700 cryptocurrency at that time. This would have been about $20k in Dec. 2017, however it was around $500 in April 2018 and I stopped spending time in their community. Although I didn't really earn much money, I really liked that time - found amazing people there and for the first time I started to "believe" in a cause.
Reskinning apps
I had a short adventure in this business, learnt Android Studio and reskinned a few apps. Never made any profit so far.
I certainly missed one or two things in the list but this is what I've done besides reading and watching multiple guides, tutorials and courses.
All in all I have earned 3500 Euro and spent about 4000 Euro in these past years.
What I'm planning to do :
As I've written before, sticking to one method is really hard for me. But I'm in a situation now where I want to prove myself something. I hate being distracted so I decided to start a side income with a quiz website. FOR REAL
Why quiz sites?
First, because I had a small success thanks to one of @se900se methods . I managed to get around 1000 players for a quiz I made myself. I only shared it on Facebook and Reddit and it was pretty easy. Quizzes are highly engaging and users love them. I used a trending tv show at that time.
Impressed by the result I ordered a site from @se900se including "quizé" (the quiz plugin) and after receiving my site and this nice opportunity ... I got distracted again and stopped working on it.
I could kick myself in the a** because that was November 2019, nearly a year ago. I recently thought about selling the site since I paid for it and I really liked everything about it, I don't want it to be expire. However, that's not my plan anymore.
My next steps
I already ordered a quiz from a fiverr guy but I'm also planning to create some of my own. If this guy delivers great quality I'll consider buying more quizzes from him.
Getting traffic will be the crucial part here. I'm not reinventing the wheel so reddit and facebook are my traffic sources.
I don't want to spam since I don't believe it to be successful, instead I will approach social media in a more subtle way.
I already applied for the Hooligan Media Ad network and hopefully they'll approve my site soon.
I will update this thread once or twice a week.
So in a nutshell, my site has:
10 Quizzes
Income : 0 $
If you've made it this far, thank you
Wish me luck!
