    What exactly do you need? The html tags?
    You can use excel with that. Just check the concatenate formula.

    So you want to use one single keyphrase as the anchor text for all of your urls?

    Slight modification to the previous script. You need to have PHP installed - there is an easy .exe installer at php.net if you are using windows.

    PHP:
    <?php

    /*************************************************************************\
    urls_to_anchors.php

    Takes a plain text list of urls and wraps them in anchor tags.

    Usage:
    Fill in the vars below and run:
    php -q urls_to_anchors.php

    Created:  Thu Feb  3 12:29:04 NZDT 2011
    \*************************************************************************/

    // File with urls in it, one per line
    $input_file  'urls.txt';

    // File to save the output to
    $output_file 'anchors.txt';

    // Keyphrase
    $keyphrase   'motherfucker';

    /*************************************************************************/

    // Load list of urls
    $lines file($input_file);

    // Wrap anchor tags around each url
    foreach($lines as $line) {

    $line trim($line);

    $output[] = "<a href=\"$line\">$keyphrase</a>";
    }

    echo
    "Here are your new anchor tags:\n";
    print_r($output);

    // Save the new list of anchor tags
    $output implode("\n"$output);
    $fh fopen($output_file'w');
    fwrite($fh$output);
    fclose($fh);

    ?>

    Download php from php.net and run the installer.

    Save the script above as urls_to_anchors.php somewhere on your hard drive (eg. C:). Edit the script and fill in the keyphrase you want.

    Put your list of urls in a text file and save it as urls.txt in the same folder you put the php script in.

    Open a command prompt. Navigate to the folder you saved the php file in, eg. if you saved it at the top level of your C drive, type in:
    chdir C:

    Then run the PHP script by typing in:
    php.exe urls_to_anchors.php

    You will magically see a file called output.txt appear, with your links in it.

    Hi Autumn,

    I can't thank you enough for your simple tool. I found it very useful with some 4000 odd html files I have in hand.

    Many thanks again and hope you have a great holiday season.

    Dane.

    Here is another trick but it wont work all the time.

    open the URL's in notepad and go to find and replace find:" http://" replace with:" <a href="http://"

    and next, find:".com" replace with:".com>keyword</a>"
    Do this for all the domain extensions.

    It should work. :)

    Hi again Autumn,

    I have a question for you. I'm finding it a bit difficult to do something with the tool you provided.

    Here are four keywords for anchor text:

    Sunday Movie List
    Monday Meal Plan
    Tuesday Office Clothes
    Thursday Shop Items

    by editing your code, I was able to create a URL list without a problem.

    But the URLs contain spaces between keywords. I'd like to replace those spaces with hypons.

    Also the first letter of each URL word has to be lower case but the first letter of each word in keyword should be capital.

    Eg:
    in URL it'll be: sunday-movies-list
    in anchor text it should be: Sunday Movie List

    Thank you so much in advance.

    Dane.

    To do that in the code from above you would edit this bit:
    Code:
    $line = trim($line);

    and replace it with this:
    Code:
    $line = trim($line);
    $line = preg_replace('/ /', '-', $line);

    so basically you would have to hammer the preg_replace line into your own modified version of the script.

    That made me smile. Maybe the OP needs a giant spoon to be fed with.
