The Backstory:

Back in May 2014 I was reading about PPI here in BHW and I have decided to do a small test with the most basic method that I could come up with. So i started to republish popular game mods/skins and celebrity wallpapers with my installer and submitting them to download sites.
I made a simple website where I put around 30 files bundled them with an installer and just submitted them to download.com and softonic.com once they went live I wasnt happy with the results and the time involved to reach $100 a day from something like this so I just moved on but recently I decided to check my accounts and when I did a bit of math it turns out that the results wore not that bad.
From the 30 files I made roughly a bit over $500 although the timeframe is a bit long that still ends up at around $16 for each file submitted and around $55 per each hour i had invested in this.
My mistake was that I thought that the downloads will slow down and I was totally wrong they wore actually increasing month by month which just goes to show that you shouldn't underestimate a method even if its making just a few bucks a day because with scale and patience it can make you a lot in the long run.
But enough about that below you will find the exact steps i took in my test along with the files I have submitted and the results. I hope this can be useful to some of you or at least to the people who are just starting since the method is pretty straight forward and requires $0 investment (besides the domain).

What you need to start:

Step 1.Find a place to download game mods/skins. You can pretty much go to any torrent site for those or you can go to game specific sites like:

http://www.gtainside.com/en/mods.php for gta
or
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/top/ for skyrim and so on.

For celebrity wallpapers i just snatch a few images from google and bundle them in a zip.

Step 2. Build the installer/downloader for each of the files you just created.I wont go in to detail about how this is done because each network works in a different way but usually the process is really straight forward. What i used for mine was betterinstaller.com because it allowed me to create an actual installer that I could later bundle with a downloader like the one from revenyou or spotinstall from Cnet which will increase my revenue.

Step 3.Put everything on your website along with a download link ( the download sites like download.com and softonic require those links along with a product description link) Something like this will suffice : http://gawonders.com/

Step 4. Once you have the whole thing setup its time to actually submit the installers you made to download.com and softonic.com you will have to prepare a few images like an icon and a screenshot and a short description but they dont care much about that so you can just use the same text/image you put on your site and a generic icon. Once everything is submitted it will take 24 to 30 hours to appear in the softonic index and about a week for download.com

Here are the files i have submitted to both:

http://en.softonic.com/author/ga-wonders

TIP: Softonic doesnt allow submissions of unauthorized game mods or game skins so there you can only submit celebrity wallpapers.

Step 5.Rinse and repeat daily for better results.

My test run was with only 30 files that took me around a day to gather and submit and that alone has netted me over $500 in earnings(its nothing considering the time span but so was the work involved). The game mods/skins niche is endless new games come out every day as well as mods for old ones so you can never run out of fresh material(same goes for the celebrity niche). If you want to expand on this method you can submit to other popular download sites or just do some seo on the download.com/softonic links and rank em as parasite properties in google :)

I have attached a screenshot of my somoto earnings below. I would have done the same for download.com but the statistics system they have in place sucks and you cant see the total earnings of the submissions.

That was a great out of box thinking for PPI other than heading to youtube.
And I assume the download sites would have actually ranked you pretty well as I know about them

Cheers

Awesome post, man! :) Really nice of you to share your method with us.
You've motivated me, alright. Thanks for the thread.

how to drive traffic to these files? & how much pics should i put 1 file?

I didnt do anything to drive traffic as you can see from the steps above. I just uploaded the files and let em sit.By pics i assume you mean the celebrity wallpapers? Anywhere from 10 to 50 would do. Google something like "lady gaga wallpapers zip" and bundle that it did the trick for me ;)

Please can you provide us , other few sites like download and softonic and what theme , u use for your site.

This seems simple enough to give a try.. Thanks

Thanks for the post, this motivated me. By the way, how long was the time span between file uploads?

i don't understand this step.

I would like to try this but rank the download.com page as a parasite for the celebrity keyword etc :)

Any freeware download site will do I never bothered to go beyond these two but you can probably find a huge list by googling "freeware sites" or "sites similar to download.com(softonic.com)

I think it was in the span of a day maybe two but the actual indexing (atleast at download.com) was a bit annoying you can expect some delays there so i would suggest you upload daily even if your files are not yet approved.

i don't understand this step.

I would suggest you check the PPI section on BHW to get a better undertanding of how building installers/downloaders work also there you will find a good list of programs to join. Once you are in your affilite manager will provide you with instructions on how to build your installer.

ive done this back in the day.. it gets installs depending on what you are offering. unfortunately, my thing got flagged for malware.
