If you decide to use a custom header banner on your WP blog, you remove the title from the inside the Dashboard to remove the Page Title text at the top of your blog...

...correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this bad for SEO?! If you simply have an image at the top instead of the text title under h1 (i think it's h1), search engines wont be able to index it?

    Is this correct?

You mean using 'alt=' in the image code?

I always remove the H1 from the header on wp blogs anyway. Otherwise you will have the same H1 on all your site pages.

Of course, it seems that goog doesn't put too much weight on the H tags anymore, but then you never know for sure.

I usually take all H tags out of the header and then hack the index page to show a static peice of text with the main keyword as a H1, and hack the single.php and page.php to show the post title as a H1.
