I would like to know the answer to this question as well

I guess It would really be depending on the niche of the keyword but its very difficult for me to find keywords that do not have very authoritative sites ranking for them.

There are no metrics shown on LTP. But I don't use a site's matrics when I do my research.

I'll look at the KC, anything below 20. 30 if it have a higher MS. No exact matches.. I'll still do it if there are exact matches (but the top results are not authoritative).

Yes I've tried to rank some keyword that doesnt have any exact match but with authority sites.. some nicely juiced web 2.0s will do the job ;)

Have you done any backlinking to your home page?
Or do you build all your backlinks for your inner pages?
