Its always a thought to start your company with the letter A.
It will often get your listing near the top of the directory listings.

    So how about:
    Amp Hosting

Really? Wow, I didn't know about this  . Amp Hosting sounds professional enough,:) I'll choose it if I don't find a better one. For now, I'll start brainstorming for names which start with A.

    Thanks,
    Josh

By top of the listing I mean because a lot of them sort alphabetically.
Sort of like the yellow pages in the phone book.
Sometimes its the simple things that make a difference...

good advice on the "a" listing. If you can alter the spelling to start with "Aa", thats double bonus. I've done that myself.

As there would be many A listings...you would need to at least have to be aaa in order for it to work.

better off with a catchy name I would think

Numbers are a bit of a gamble on this aren't they. Some will list them before the A some after the Z.

I guess it's best doing a lot of research into that if you do have to make a decision. (For example 1on1.com, 123reg.com etc).

If I were to start my own web hosting company the name will be "myfirstnamehosting",
and I would put all my best to offer great services and become a famous hosting company, in time.

I have had a few different web hosting businesses in the years and I will say that having a catchy name is better than having one that sticks you top of a list somewhere (especially if its a review site that sorts on review ratings).

The best name I had didn't mention my name or the word 'host' in it at all. I won't mention the name here as I sold the business last year so its no longer mine!

The latest one I have, which to be honest is a 'closed' hosting business for friends and friends of friends has a name that would worry most people in hosting - deadserver :)
