I may take a day or so off as my Girl Dog, the Mother of the Big Boy whom you see as my avatar, passed away this afternoon and I'm having a really, really hard time typing right now.

She was my constant companion for 12 1/2 years.

She had a stroke under my desk after having been given a tummy rub, loves and hugs and quietly crossed to chasing bunnies in the sky.

She was rarin' and goin' right up until the last moment of her life in this plane and was the most wonderful of friends for many years.

Her place in The Pack will be succeeded by her daughter whom she trained as the Beta Female.

I will bury her tomorrow, wrapped in her favourite blankie, in the field that she loved so much.

Hoist one or two sometime for our Lupine/Canine companions and never miss the opportunity to touch the animals for which you care.

    Thank you for reading.

    Uptown.

"The shit that used to work don't work no more!"

Her is in a better place now as whatever was wrong with Her, She could not get well in this plane.

I will always see the Light shine in Her eyes.

The poodles, the labs, the collies; they are Man's dogs.

The Wolves and Coyotes...they are God's Dogs!

She loved this song and would actually howl along with it!

She was a Wolf/Husky/Shepherd, so go here and sing!

    WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Uptown,

I am so sorry for your loss. Take as much time as you need to reflect. Losing a friend that loyal is never easy; and it never will be.

My sister and her family have been certified breeders of a certain large dog for almost 15 years. Nothing huge businesswise, they do it for the love of the breed.

Many of their dogs have been around the ranch for much longer than some of her children have been alive, fending off mountain lions and bears and such. If an errant child sneaks out the door unattended--which does happen on occasion--one or more of those big dogs is right behind him/her. They protect those kids naturally. And these beasts seem to know exactly how and when it's okay to jump the fence and tail the child.

It's bloody hard to lose a friend like that.

I know that my sister's family have never gotten used to it. They keep 6 to 10 dogs at all times. But they will tell me that the loss of the last dog hurts every bit as much as the loss of the very first. The dogs are family.

Please know you are in my thoughts during this difficult time.

I know it's hard. It will get better, I promise.
    Best,
    Sine

    Luther, thank you.

As you may be able to tell, I am nearly a fifth down of Kalashnikov Vodka!

Yes, you can get the vodka to which General Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov, Hero of The Soviet Union, has assigned his licence if you know where and how!

Met him once; a grand gentleman.

Today was the ultimate presentation of the Natural Order of Things.

We humans have difficulty with that but we have no choice; it is The Way Of Things.

    Birth, Life, Death.

All these things are natural but tough to deal with.

It is prohibited for the Children of The Night to sleep on my bed with me but tonight may be an exception to the rule.

The Daughetr of Herself has now assumed the role of Alpha Female and HER daughter is now elevated to the position of Beta Female; The Princess In Waiting, if you will.

The Children move faster and with more acceptance than do we humans.

LIFE; the Wonderment of The World, continues.

Thank you for allowing me to vent here and thank you for your kindenss.

    Uptown.

Hey Uptown...sorry about your loss. We have a shepherd at our place that is just another member of the family so I can understand how much it would sting with the loss. We had a close call due to a paralysis tick last year but she got through.

Im sure you have some great memories of her that will be with you for ever.

Hemingway wrote that people in trouble seek out a clean, well-lighted place.

BHW tonight is that clean, well-lighted pace for me.

    Thank you.

sorry to hear about your loss.

losing a pet is very tough, sometimes more than when a human passes if you are very close to the pet. sometimes you spend more time with a pet than with people and it becomes your best friend and it hurts just as bad when they die.
think of it this way, the dog was probably very happy while he was with you and made his life full, animals know when they have it good, and they can sense when you show love and affection towards them, so the dog was content and knew she lived in happiness and wouldnt want to be anywhere else than at your side. thats the best a dog could ask for.

Very sorry for your loss. I have a Husky myself as well as a few other dogs. There is nothing harder in this world then saying goodbye to a faithful friend.

Sorry for your loss, uptown. Be glad that you were able to share such a long time with your friend. The last pet I lost was hit by one of the neighborhood dickheads who thinks he lives in the movie The Fast and The Furious or something. He thinks our neighborhood is his own personal racetrack. I hate those little speedracer dickhead freaks. It's people like him that make me sad that it's illegal to kill people... Anyway, very sorry for your loss.
