My mail carrier just came and dropped off his usual stack of junk mail. I'm talking about heaps of unwanted stuff: tons of credit card offers, solicitations from various charities, assorted catalogs and coupon circulars of the "Pennysaver" variety, and on and on, just an endless siege of paper, day in and day out. If only I could make it all disappear without a trace with as little effort as clicking a "delete" button, I'd be the happiest guy in the world! Meanwhile, I'm sneered at as a "spammer" as if it's the lowest thing on earth. How is what I do worse than that? Most people have some sort of spam filtering on their email inboxes, and you can download a good one for free. If I could set up a free tool on my physical mailbox that would vaporize 90% of that unwanted crap the instant the mail carrier shoved it in the slot, I'd be the happiest guy in the world! And yet they call ME a "spammer" with the same disgust as if I was robbing graves for a living! Heck, if your gmail account is REALLY overrun with spam, just stop using it! Get a new email address! It's a lot easier than MOVING, which is what I would have to do to get away from the deluge of paper junk mail. Plus, whose idea was it anyway to have the mail come every day? The UPS guy doesn't come every day. He only comes when he has something I've specifically ordered. And the U.S. Postal Service is an agency of the federal government, therefore a federal agent is visiting my house every day. And yet THAT is considered less of an intrusion than a few emails that are probably going to be filtered out anyway, but can in any event be deleted with a single mouse-click??!! You've gotta be kidding me!!!! ~Whew!~ I feel better now. Thanks for listening.
