This is not as bad as Chernobyl... a lot of people died from that tragedy.

British Petroleum will pay. However, I've heard that this is the worst oil tragedy in the US. Is it worse than the Exxon Valdez?

BP, will avaoid the major cost due to the company and equipment that caused the accident were contracted and not employed or owned by BP. They are only fronting money now to save their Public Relations. This mess is expected to be the worst oil spill in history (Source BBC news durring my morning Coffee).

I was wondering how they would finally blame the Bush administration almost 1.5 years after they're out of office. Unbelievable.

Not really unbelievable, actually! In 2001, when Cheney had his top-secret energy policy meetings at the White House, Cheney was asked to loosen the restrictions on off-shore drilling by not requiring a $500,000 safety valve on these oil platforms. Other countries such as Norway and even Brazil (a developing nation by all accounts) are required to use them but Cheney gave in to his oil buddies to save them a few bucks. This tragedy and the financial crisis can all be blamed on Bush and Republicans striking down thousands of regulations that have been put into place over the years to save corporations money. Hopefully people will wake up and realize that corporations are out to make money. They don't care about anything else, and nor should they. The business of business is to make $$$. It is up to politicians to put into place the proper regulations (rules) to ensure they don't screw shit up like our economy and world environment!

Actually, any business that didn't spend a measly 500K to protect it's 200,000 gallons a day oil supply is operating using a flawed business model.

I don't know that I would blame any politician for BP operating in such a reckless manner and as a shareholder, I am pretty ticked off.

No. Recklessly spending Trillions of dollars on programs when your economy is tanking is much to blame for the mess we're in. Democratic congress has been in power for 3.5 years and what have they done? spend spend spend. No solutions. No new ideas. Tax the rich. Blah Blah Blah. Chris Dodd and Barney Frank having oversight over any institution is just plain crazy when it was their policies of forcing banks to make loans to people who couldn't afford to pay them. Their hypocrisy is stunning. You'd think an enterprising journalist could win some prize for asking either of them obvious pointed questions about their involvement in the mess.

It is up to politicians to put into place the proper regulations (rules) to ensure they don't screw shit up like our economy and world environment!

They certainly haven't been keeping their end of the bargain on that one, have they? You don't fix the economy by screwing it up worse and spending money you will never be able to repay. You don't create Government jobs and call it a recovery.

Ah, the tippy top secret energy policy meetings with all the oil barons. Sure wasn't a real big secret if people knew about them. Both are oil men, what do you expect? Just like I expect that Obama has plenty of secret meetings with all his Acorn and Union buds.
