I routinely search YouTube for videos on entrepreneurship and things about business in general. I'm always looking for advice that's different, something that will give me an "edge" on things. Anyway, I found an amazing speech given by a guy named, Jason Nazar. He is the CEO and founder of docstoc.com. If you are a person that is looking to start-up anything (business, website, whatever), check out this video. It all relates to IM and business in general. The video is a little long (1:28) but it's worth listening to. Everything all ties in together, so you have to listen to the entire thing to get the most out of it. Here are a few things that he said. "Make Your Business Different and Better" It doesn't have to be original. Example: Facebook was different and better than MySpace. You don't have to come up with an "original" idea. Look at businesses that are doing well, copy them and do it better. "The Most Successful Businesses Pivot" Stay attached to the problem you're trying to solve but be flexible on the solution. When Twitter got started they weren't Twitter (Sorry, I can't remember the name). They were an entirely different company (a type of Mp3 company) that nobody wanted. They all decided to take 2 weeks to come up with a new business idea. This is when 2 guys out of the group came up with Twitter. "Most businesses fail because they never got started, not because they started and failed." An idea is just an idea, it's nothing until you take action. You may have the best idea in the world but it's not worth anything. Don't wait around for the perfect day to get started on your idea. Today is the day. How many times have you done this? I have done this more times than I can remember throughout my life. Make today the day you get started. He will also teach you how to get funding for your site/business.
