Have you guys heard about the gateway video concept from morningfame? For a long time, I never understood how to measure youtube keyword difficulty. MF offers a simple solution - the gateway video criteria. We inspect the yt serp and search for a video that has the smallest number of subs and views. Now we compare that number to our channel subs and average views. If it's equal or above we have some chances to rank for this keyword (ofc depending on ctr and retention...) What is your opinion about this concept? Have you tried it?
About a year ago I was testing auto reupload from bilibili to yt. Within the first couple of months, i have collected 150k+ views on various channels. 5% of the videos got 95% of the traffic... Out of those 400 channels, 40 are still alive. from 10 up to 90 subs on those channels. I am going to be using these channels in this journey.
I like to solve things procedurally. I already have a list of ~ all existing youtube channels (47 million rows) and each 1-2 months I am also tracking newly created yt channels to find out which are able to show some significant results (like gaining 5-100k subs). This way I am collecting channel ideas and trends, and this way I can also collect some hot keywords. Now, back to the gateway video concept. Yesterday I have started collecting all the keyword suggestions that exist on yt. I am not exactly sure if that would be 100% possible or not. But I have really strong scrapping set up so I can at least try. {az:a:z} up to {az:aaaaaaaa:zzzzzzzz}. This means I will have to execute 217 180 147 158 requests only to collect a list of the first words in a search query. However, my list of keywords is already 4.5 million only one day after I started... and among those, I have already found some keywords that I am currently ranking for... this brings me to a conclusion that if I pick this list of keywords and somehow quickly manage to measure their difficulty using the gateway video method I could easily find a huge list of videos ideas data-driven.
Until I get like a thousand subs organically on at least a single channel I am going to focus on reused content (videos) while doing some semi-automated editing.
Yesterday I have created a TikTok auto scrapper and downloader... Still thinking if some auto compilations generator is a good idea or not. What do you think?
